Yup. Each sensor has a dog leg that is hinged. If you change the length of the vertical section of the dogleg, it will lower or raise the suspension by tricking the sensor where the stock neutral position is. Raising the air suspension will make the ride stiffer and you are limited by the travel of the air springs but you can do it. I haven’t looked at other mechanical limitations but it’s the same principle as lowering the car by adjusting the length of the sensor arm. I’ve done it on other SUVs for a couple of dollars in parts.

Hey manni22gp and falconey - I honestly haven't noticed any difference in ride quality. It's just as comfy as it was before as far as I can tell! HTH!

Vehicles come at specific heights due to regulations, which often go against aesthetics. If you need more than that, then you likely are enjoying driving your car on stilts.

I was thinking about this a bit more. I'm not sure I would lower or raise the suspension on the iX using only the modification to the sensors without additional changes to the suspension. At the very least, have a competent driveline shop check camber and toe in. There may be a need to change the control arms. If anyone here does lower or raise their iX, I would be curious to know. I don't plan on doing this on the iX but I'm still interested in the outcome.

An alignment is absolutely key any time a significant ride height change is made. Not doing so could result in anything from increased tire wear to reduced grip on slippery surfaces to downright spooky behavior or changes in left-to-right handling balance.
I’ve experienced all of these things as a consequence of misalignment issues, admittedly not directly related to the lowering of a car. I have lowered every single car I’ve owned though, so I’ve done my share of wrenching, driveway DIY alignments, and proper paid machine alignments. Why someone would buy an expensive car and then skip out on an alignment after lowering is beyond me… |

Looks awesome! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Which brand spacers and bolts did you use? Would you have a link to them? Do you feel 15mm is enough for flush fitment or needs bit more? We have an iX40 arriving with the 22” 1021’s…likely won’t lower this but always up to push the oem’s out a bit (and get 2nd set of proper fitment aftermarkets). ✌🏼 Thx! Fred |

It looks great lowered!

I used H&R wheel spacers. I found the 2022 BMW iX xDrive50 via their TRAK+ application finder app, and went with the 15mm black ones, part number 3055664SW. I purchased them from ECS Tuning - link. I also got the extended wheel bolts from ECS tuning - these. The fitment with the 15mm spacers isn't quite flush with the factory 22" wheels. The outsides of the tires are just a tiny bit inside the outer edges of the fenders. I may swap for 18mm spacers in the rear, but I think the fronts are pretty good (for my taste) with the 15mm spacers. I still need to take & share photos - apologies. I was away on vacation last week and have a bunch of things going on right now... I'll do so before too long. HTH! Brian |

I need to point out that lowering the car can negatively impact the ADAS systems since they are precisely calibrated based on factory settings. In ye olden days when we could manipulate module settings this could be overcome but with new BMWs we are locked out and as such cannot update any of the calibrations.

Hey all,
Finally got some daytime photos of the car in a freshly-washed state! This is with 18mm wheel spacers: https://bmwi.bimmerpost.com/forums/s...3#post30194083 Apologies to Kress86 et al re: not being responsive - despite being subscribed to this thread I never receive email notifications and don't spend much time on this forum, so it's easy to miss things. I'll measure the factory links when I get home tonight. I doubt I'll be able to access the installed GhostLinks to measure them, but I'll have a look at least... Brian |

Okay, I've got measurements of the factory suspension sensor links - see photos below - Kress86 et al. I used calipers to measure from the inside of one ball joint socket to the other. 45.61mm for the shorter links, 64.24mm for the longer ones (which also have a 90-degree turn). With some research on the Interwebz you can probably determine which ones are supposed to get shortened and which ones are supposed to get lengthened, and roughly how much of each equates to how much vehicle lowering... I hope this is helpful!
