The price looks good. My wife and son said it looks confused. Is it a car or SUV?

@Icegrill has one if you want an owners opinion from someone on the forum.

I test drove one. It was nice but I didn't like any of the color options both exterior and interior and the non-matching plastic trim all around the exterior, over the wheel wells etc made the car look cheap.
It has a huge center console that made the interior feel cramped and the panoramic roof, one, didn't open and two, had no sun shade cover. It was a bit higher than a normal sedan as it's based on the XC40 platform. A more minor dislike, Google is integrated, as it seems to be in the new Volvos, and I felt silly having to say, "hey google" all the time. Both the P2 and I4 nicely equipped are around $60k but you do get two motors and more HP with the P2 and since they are currently available in the US can get the $7500 FED tax credit which does make the P2 less expensive. I have seen one (it is on display at the Scottsdale Fashion Square and they are opening a store there as well) but wasn't blown away.
When I configured it as I would need/want it, it turns out to be about as expensive as the much nicer and better equipped Lucid Air. There is a Lucid design studio in the same mall and the Air looks much nicer and the technology is way better. Much more range and power. |

You are correct. But at that price point, $7K for the extra range and power (even the basic Lucid Air Pure has 480 HP and 400 miles of range) and 900volt system is pretty minimal

A friend has the Polestar - he loves it and I have to say that I am very impressed. Great build quality, gorgeous and very ‘on trend’ interior….something I will definitely consider if the i4 doesn’t meet my expectations……….assuming I ever get to see one

I test drove an Polstar 2. It was surprisingly nice. The interior room is much larger than its outside dimensions would suggest. The "vegan" interior was nice. It isn't like the sensatac that BMW does (which is ick). The seats were covered in cloth made from some artificial material. The seats felt great. I hope that the artificial material would hold up better than real cloth. I personally would not bother getting the upgraded leather interior. The car I drove was the performance model (dual motor, with manually adjustable shocks). The ride was firm but comfortable for me (a little stiffer than the suspension on the M340, but less than the M3). You can adjust the stiffness of the shocks but you have to jack the car up to reach the adjustment knobs. I seriously doubt that the majority of the owners would bother. I liked the hatch in the back. I like the underfloor storage in the hatch. I didn't like that most of the car controls are in the giant screen in the middle. It was really quiet at low speeds. At highway speeds you get a decent amount of road noise (similar to an X1). It was a nice car. The factory suggests going in for service once every 2 years. A big downside for me is that the nearest service center is over 200 miles away. All in all it was a really nice car. I would personally probably get the Volvo XC40 recharge. The electric guts in for the XC40 and the polestar 2 are the same. The XC40 has a slightly more useful body shape. There are Volvo dealers within 5 miles of my house. But (in the USA at least) it is much easier to get a Polestar 2 than the XC40. So if you want an electric car right now, Polestar is saying that they can deliver cars immediately. With the aviability of the other electric cars being very extended (Chevy Bolt [stop sale], i4 [delivery in June '22], Rivian [???], Lucid [???], Telsa [most cheap models, few months delay], Hyundai Ioniq 5 [???], Kia EV6 [???]) the Polstar is compelling if you have to have a electric car right now.

One thing I like about Tesla and Polestar is the ease of online ordering and knowing exactly what I will be paying.
Going through a dealer is a hassle to me at the best of times… and with this market I am having a hard time placing an order for a car when I have no idea about the shipping time or the lease payments I will be making. |

I guess you haven’t bought a car recently. No dealers are selling for less than MSRP.

I have one… picked it up after my F31 lease was up.
It’s got some bugs that polestar is working out, like my originally non-functioning over the air updates and still no CarPlay (coming this spring). But other than that, it’s great. I do like that it’s unique on the road and is not a Tesla. Quote:

I do wish the interior packaging was better (i.e. wasteful center tunnel, stupid single cupholder). I've put almost 5500 miles on it so let me know if you have more questions.

Also, if you want something that stands out, the i4 isn't it. And it costs $10,000 more.
