I think only one is in the possession of a customer on here. I know at least 3-4 have made it to dealerships. The first batch is out in the open now. It looks like there's a trickle heading out.

Both of the cars which I knew about have also been delivered at this point, in the past week or so. They're getting to be out there, little by little.

update on my sophisto grey i8

mine is status 193 as of today.

it should be on next boat out of bremerhaven, to arrive in Brunswick on oct 23.

it should be at my dealer for delivery on wed or thu 29 or 30 october.

(unless wwl creates another voyage sooner, which i doubt would happen.)

getting excited, but this crazy (up and down) wait for months, especially the last three, has certainly taken a toll on my excitement - i hope the car itself will re-excite me.

interesting note:
i am my dealer's #1 i8 order - and my dealer's #2 arrived yesterday (how crazy is that!). oh well, i am happy for him that he will have his tonight, even though I must still wait just over a month for mine.

I think 6 days to Dallas and release is a little tight, however do not discount salesman's month end incentive !

Car in SoCal

My dealer sent me pix of a white/PI Pkg car today. Apparently the Pres of BMW NA is visiting numerous SoCal dealerships and is driving it. It had BMW of Beverly Hills rear dealer ad plate on the car. He was reported to only be there for a short time, so I couldn't get down there quickly enough to see it

2015 allocations

I know most of you guys already ordered but i'm number 4 on the wait list from my local BWM for the 2015 i8. The manager told me he has not yet received any idea of how many allocations he will get or when it will be announced. They are obviously more worried about the first deliveries. Does anyone have any idea about the 2015 production date, delivery, or allocations for dealers?

I was told a majority of dealers were only promised one allocation for 2014 with dealerships getting multiple 2014's (LA, NYC, TX, Chicago, FL, etc) being an exception, not a rule. I believe my dealer has an order coming but no build date, likely a 2015 model. There are six people in line at my dealership, which means the last person is going to be waiting for a 2016 model at least, based on allocations there. Hopefully they've worked out the kinks in production.

Where is you dealership located? I get the impression allocations are based more on location rather than sales numbers.

2015's

My salesman said his dealership believes they will be able to spec and order at least their initial 2015 i8's in December. With delivery of that first 2015 around March. They are apparently being told they should expect 4-6 2015 allocations, but we all saw how that varied for the current 2014 cars.
Mine will be a 2014, ordered this past July, with build projected in early December and delivery late January. The guy next behind me on the list is getting that first 2015. They asked me if I wanted to swap spots, to get a '15, but without any more firm timing details, I am holding my committed spot, at msrp. If they get any further firm 2015 details and allocation commitments, plus any possibility of new colors, etc, before I reach the point of no return, I might reconsider a slot swap. Until then, it's a 2014, blue/PI/turbine wheels.

My dealership is located near DC so I hope it means at least 4 allocations.

I hope your right, I know you guys waited a lot longer for your 2014's and its only been 3 months so far for me but I still check the forums and dealership emails every day...just in case.

another thing I learned today while at my dealer with 2 i8s - and, yes, the drive is unbelievably awesome - is that in order to charge the car fully, you must set the idrive setting to allow MAX charging. just a useful tidbit of info!

You can tell it to reduce the pull to prevent tripping a fuse if you need to as well. And when to charge since some locations charge less for electricity at night.

mine is still in 193, waiting at port for ship

but it doesn't look like it got on the ship that left today (unless maybe they update the system later tonight or tomorrow).

it has been at the port since wed/25 sep, exactly one week now.

i am hoping it will get on the next ship on oct 3 or 6 if it did not make today's outbound.

is it unrealistic to think it would get on one of those or ??

how long after arriving at Bremerhaven did yours wait to board the next ship? (trying to figure out if they do lots at the port, or just wait to load it on the next available ship)

I think mine was there 7 days, August 25th to Sept 2nd. Arrived in New York on the 18th, VPC took two business days, then a day for the 400 mile trip to the dealership. Exactly a month from 193 to at the dealership. I would say add a week-ish for Central/West delivery.

My car showed up on W&W's tracking a couple hours before being loaded. Type your VIN into the Cargo ID.
