Crashed i8

Happened yesterday close to my home town.
This roadster crashed into the driver side of a 3 series.

The driver of the i8 stayed uninjured but two passengers of the 3 series have been ejected(!) from the car and injured badly.
Must have been a really hard hit.

Hurts to just see that. I hope everyone recovers. Looks like the i8 frontally hit the side of the 3 series. Very unevenly distributed chances of survival.

Looks like a Roadster. What's the long white item on the ground infront on the i8?

Hope everyone is ok, that looks awful.

The white part obviously is the rocker panel trim of the 3 series.

Parts bill for i8 likely to be £20-25k I'd say, but repairable.

The i8 definitely repairable by someone. It's really not bad, just parts cost prohibitive, but if car is worth £65k, they may well repair it.

How does an i8 hit the driver's side of a 3 series? Racing? I always notice any BMW within 100 feet of me on the road!

From the road markings and signs it looks like the 3 series pulled out of the side junction and the i8 hit it. Pretty straightforward smash.

My guess - low, gray roadster not seen by other driver. Be careful, drive defensively; I often flash my lights to increase visibility. Even works with cattle sometimes.

I drive a grey roadster in the UK and the standard of driving is getting a lot worse here, I'd be very reluctant to flash my lights here as someone would DEFINITELY pull out on you!
It looks a terrible accident and hopefully everyone is ok.
