I ordered Scorpion Winters on tire rack with a $100 Mail in Rebate. I want to keep the range of the 22s, plus the Scoprions have noise insulation and i've used them before on my X4M, ride quality was great on a car with a terrible suspension.

I'm considering purchasing just a set of winter tires (no rims). Any reason not to do that? Swapping costs will be around $75 more, which still makes this option much cheaper than purchasing an extra set of rims.
Am I missing something? |

I’ve done that. It’s just a little more wear and tire and tires taking them on off rims. And you run risk of user error scratching your rims but if trusted shop doing it for you it’s not the worst thing in the world

I'm going to build my own "Winter Wheel Set" from the stock 1020 style 22" wheels with Blizzaks and TPMS sensors. A lot more expensive compared to the OEM USA offering, but much more appealing to the eyes

I was ordering new winter tires/rims, and my tire guy told me I could use the winter tire package from my X7. Size/offset seems to work.
255/55R20. Rims are 9" with a 30 offset, which compares to the 9.5" with a 37 offset for the iX. Tire size is a bit off the BMW tire package, but it actually is a better "fit" when looking at the 22s that come with the ix. Let me know what you guys think. |

When you have to deal with deep snow often, narrow tires do better than wider ones. Depending where the OP regularly drives, this might be a necessary evil. 255 is the width I have on my X5 winters as well; they are 255/50R20 as opposed to the 55R20 for the iX. I am in a suburb of Montreal, so decent snow in the winter, and need to drive on unplowed roads every now and again and they do great. We also have local roads that don't get salted and essentially remain snow/ice covered all winter too. |

I live in Toronto, and we go skiing with the kids, so I prefer the narrow sizes too. And, this saves me a few thousand bucks too! |

Got my studded boots package put on today, took a bit of fiddling in the menus for the car to recognize the aftermarket TPMS, but got there in the end. Come at me now Winter! |

I am going to use my R233 wheels from my X5 too for my winters.... on a Blue ridge mountain metallic iX... Let me ask you, which TPMS sensors did you use? I ordered the ones from TireRack (Huf) and got them delivered yesterday. They were 40$usd each + tax + shipping + brokerage for a total of 238.69$ USD (approx 325$ CAD). |

$200CAD In the tpms menu, you have to select Manual/Winter tires/Tire size: Other. Otherwise if set to automatic, the tpms won't be recognized. |

With tax yours work out to be 239.10$ so about 85$ less than the TireRack ones I got. I'll know for next time. |

Will any old 433 MHz sensors work like on other BMWs?
