eDrive hiccup

Not sure if this is normal but when I'm driving on Sports mode or ecopro/comfort and I click on the edrive button, the car hiccups before switching.

The slows down quite a bit almost to a full stop before switching. I now only switch when I'm stopped at a light.

Any idea?

It happened to me too on my 2015 i8 and the 2019 one. I guess is normal.

That's common, have the issue on my 2014 since day one. It's probably due to decoupling the gas engine drivetrain functions. I am doing the same, or switching when coasting.

no - what you feel is the shifting to the first gear (of the two-speed electric gearbox). Therefore, in edrive-mode can only drive a maximum of 120 km / h but you have much better response in first e-gear.

What modes do you usually set it on?

Also whats the difference between comfort and eco-drive?

The car must switch to neutral in order to engage the electric machine's transmission to use first gear. If you are going down a steep hill in Comfort mode, and the car is regenerating, press the eDrive and feel it free-wheel for a second before engaging the transmission again. Fun!

The bit I don't get is that sometimes I am driving in electric in Comfort mode (ie full charge in slow traffic), but when I switch to eDrive I still get the hiccup.

In Comfort Mode, the electric machine's transmission is in 2nd gear. Selecting eDrive locks out the combustion engine and engages neutral on the electric machine's transmission before engaging either 1st of 2nd gear. My guess is that the engineers designed this to go into neutral before 1st gear would become available.
