Not many, since about 99.8% of folks have no idea what this is about. What is this about?

Looked it up. Airplane mode if I remember.

As an IT network person who has studied the impact of mass notifications on my employer's internal networks for years, I strongly encourage everyone to leave their phone on and listen to every single word in voice phone alerts during alerting system tests as if it was a real event and your life depended on it.

If everyone turns off their phones for the test, the carriers cannot accurately gauge their system loads when the crap really hits the fan.....

Yeah and I will be shocked if some system doesn't fail in this test.

Unknown what devices will get it, only active phone numbers, what about IP only numbers. I swear an old pixel 3a a kid uses still gets alerts and that has no sim in it. Sim capable devices include tablets, laptops, watches, etc, on top of tons of old phones being used wifi only. Do emergency alerts come into our BMWs with active cellular connection?

My pixel on the latest android does not have an option to opt out of federal tests, but friend showed me a device that has that option. Will phones with some/all alerts disabled still get it.

There are so many but kinda fall into these 3 buckets.

Why are they performing this test.
What are they going to do with the data from the test.
and the ultimate... It will install some govt bug onto your device.

Didn't the State of Hawaii issue a "For real" nuclear alert 3 or so years ago. People were opening man hole covers and jumping in... Hope they improved

I don’t think there’s much to worry about in that regard. As I mentioned, probably about 99.8% of the population has no clue this is going to happen.

They are using this to signal cell phones to activate the chips injected into us with the covid vaccine. Oh, and the earth is flat too.

I just find the noise obnoxiously annoying and loud, so I will be turning it off. I have all alerts turned off... AMBER, Emergency, Public Safety, and Test (iPhone). I tried paring them down to be a reasonable frequency, but getting woken up over a literal gang bang a few counties over was the last straw.

I saw a meme (that I cannot post here without risking a trip to banned camp) about how this EAS test is going to use the 5G cellular system to activate some dormant virus and turn everyone into zombies.

With that kind of natural stupidity, why are we afraid of artificial intelligence?????

No you need to get the alert so it will fix the iPhone 15 wireless charge issue and as a bonus, it pays your next month cellular bill.
I heard it on the Internet.

Who is turning off their phones before 220pm EST tomorrow?

Mine's already off; it's in a drawer and stays off 24X7 unless I'm on a road trip.

What's the drama scheduled for 2:20 PM EST tomorrow - do I need to turn my phone on so I don't miss out?

My phone is perpetually in vibrate only mode, but it will probably buzz my watch. It'll be interesting to see if it works.

If it's an iPhone, it's going to screech max volume at you. Reminds me of the old Motorola Razr's low battery alert; regardless of mute, it made that extra loud, frequent, two-tone chirp.

I'm leaving my cell phone on but as a precaution, I'm wrapping it in tin foil to block the signal. You can't be too careful.

Apple's alerts function will override the ringer off switch for critical alerts like EAS. Be prepared for the screech from both your phone and watch.

On the bright side, nobody needs to worry about dinner plans tonight if we're all zombies.....
