Paint Protection Film vs Ceramic Coatings

Does anyone have any experience on PPF vs ceramic coatings on the i8? I am getting some pretty ridiculous quotes on full ppf kits, and am debating doing a front and sides kits pff and a ceramic coating - but am worried about the difference being visible.

Anyone have any experience here?

Cheers!

If you get a reputable installer you can't tell the PPF is on the vehicle. I did full front, hood, mirrors, rockers and fenders then had everything ceramic coated. Ceramic coating will not stop paint chips so you need PPF.

Hi, just about to get a full front and sills PPF'd and ceramic on the rest for my 2016 protonic red. Had a London detailer give me a quote of: correction/ decontamination £1620 full front and sills PPF £2340 and ceramic coat including wheels £ 480 inclusive of VAT. Got a quote for the same but included PPF on the doors for about a thousand less at a local detailer.

I had my previous car, a Cayman, PPFd with full front and sills and really you couldn't see the joins. You had to really look close up to see anything at all.

I will be interested to see the difference between the PPF and ceramic coat on my i8. And also how easy it is to clean!

Top level ceramic is excellent, but will not protect against stones and chips. PPF will.

On a brand new car, consider PPF with ceramic on top.

PPF protects the paint. Ceramic gives it an amazing shine, and makes the car super easy to keep clean.

I've got neither on my i8 as I didn't know about these when I bought that. But have got it on my two cars I bought since the i8.

It's the detailing and ceramic that will give the car its incredible shine. PPF won't.
