Apologies if this has a thread or has been answered.

I'm searching to see if anyone's upgraded their pre-LCI i8 iDrive to the LCI one. Apart from Apple CarPlay, I understand the new iDrive screen has a higher definition.

I've seen a thread where someone added Apple CarPlay to their pre-LCI model, but it didn't seem to upgrade the screen and iDrive unit per se.

20,000+ i8s in existence, assuming 1/2 are pre-LCI - I guess someone's probably done this.

Unrelated to the iDrive, however I reckon LCI models are about 10% in the UK at least!

Those of us that added CarPlay to their Pre-LCI models (mine is 2015) did so via an aftermarket module. It kept the existing screen, otherwise the cost to swap that, which is unnecessary, would have made it far too expensive to justify.

I upgraded the head unit to a NBT EVO with ID6. I have access to apple car play now and ID6 interface. I did lose connected drive but i dont use that anyways. I retained the same screen.

Where did you get the EVO? Did you do the install yourself?
