Didn't I read somewhere though this has less carbon fiber than the original models due to cost cutting?
It has a carbon carcass.

Maybe the exterior panels are now made of aluminum or steel.

I was reading the description and hoping to see something like new six cylinder engine. I didn't. lost interest.

Why would you need a six cylinder in an electric vehicle?

I was just kidding but was implying that not being an ev would make the car better.

I know BMW spent like $5-$6 billion euros on technology in 2016 and that's a lot of money, but they really need to increase their budget on battery and hybrid technology.

I'm sorry but this i3S is not even close to being enough to compete with the competition.

A message to BMW: I love you as a car manufacturer, but please Stop trying to play it safe and just destroy the competition will you?

Yes I was hoping it would soundly beat the Bolt 0-60 time by at least half a second. Should have been a sub 6 second 0-60mph car. Will have to see the quarter trap speed to see what higher speed improvements there are. Could be significant considering the similar HP but much heaver B clas trapped like 5mph faster than the current i3.

It's such a shame because I really think the i3 is a great car besides the range. I hope a refresh in 2019 or 2020 will actually have a competitive range, but it might be too late for the i3 by then. Shame.

Just noticed the radical departure from the aero plate style wheels on the 'i3s model. You can clearly see the brake rotors with these wheels. So perhaps they are serious about it being more performance oriented in the suspension department at the sacrifice of efficiency.

You're right, good eye. A nice option, but that's not what you buy an i3 for.

Yep, already faster than M3/M4. The new M5 might be faster though.

The refresh makes its front look stunning. Love it!

Never been a fan of the looks. As a secondary car it nails the size etc. for our household and the range should be more than enough

Must say the refresh here makes it look way better - hopefully not going to be too expensive here in Denmark

Sure, it might be faster the first or second pull - but what about the 5th? or 10th?

Not being facetious, genuinely asking - because by comparison, the Tesla S is one of the fastest cars in the world....once or twice. And then it's a useless lump of batteries.

It got the worst rating from IIHS. Check the video on it it's brutal.

Finally! We now have an i3 that's easy to "look at"! Bring on an AWD version,...give it a minimum 300 mile range and 0-60 in 5.5 secs! It'll out sell the 3-Series!

Dual motor needs to do better than 5.5 sec.

The car is 10k to expensive to be competitive.

The i3 turned in a strong performance in the group's four main crash tests?small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side impact, and roof strength.

Where BMW's dedicated electric car came up short was in its head restraints, which the IIHS rates only as "Acceptable," due to their limited protection from whiplash in rear-impact tests.

The IIHS tested only the cloth-covered, manually-operated seats on the entry-level i3.

It also said that the car's headlights rank "Acceptable" and that its available collision avoidance tech is classified as "Advanced."
