No dealer discount normal?
Looking at a new 2021 i3s. The rebates are excellent ($7,500 APR, $3K loyalty, $2,500 CO state credit) but the dealer is not willing to take anything else off. I’ve read here of some people getting similar rebates + 8-10% dealer discount. Feels like the dealer should at least be able to do something, right? Given the rebates are funded by BMW Corp/the state.

Most dealers are still riding the coat tails of a car/LT 'shortage' during this time...
I recently got them down to 8% off, but really had to stand my ground and walk away during negotiations (got in my car and left). They came back and agreed to my original offer later that day. However, inventory is somewhat low, are you shopping for i3's or an actual i3 "s" model (i3s). Those are even more scarce lately. That being said, if you find a car at a dealer that meets your needs, don't give up! |

you have to shop around, and play dealers off each other.
In late June I was calling dealers in CA and TX (live in Houston), found only 2 that could get a 2021 i3s allocation and ended up with 8% dealer discount plus $11k corporate incentive (my employer is a BMW corp partner) on a custom build. Ordered June 24th, rolled off assembly line July 16th and picked it up last week. With $7500 Fed rebate and $2500 state rebate $52k MSRP will cost me $30k, tax included. |
