As far as I know, you need either the VIN or the production number. The latter be found on the vehicle inquiry report your dealer can give you once its at status 112, scheduled for production.

Best way is to go on line at mybmw web site and then my garage. You need to set up and account and log in. In the my garage section you can add the car your ordered including VIN or production number. You will then be able to see when it goes into production, assembly, shipping from factory all the way to delivery at the dealer.

Big wow, what a difference a few weeks make. These were some of my major milestones:

11/22/22: Exterior Body Assembly Begins
11/24/22: Dispatched from factory
11/28/22: At the port (Bremerhaven)
12/22/22: At the port (Baltimore)
12/27/22: Dealer says vehicle has arrived and sends me pictures!
12/30/22: Picked up vehicle, 11 miles on ODO, software 11/2022.28

Basically, mine was made 3 weeks later, but I received it 3 months earlier than you!

Yeah, that EDU issue really killed it. It also got caught up in the Airbag recall, so it was delayed harder.

Semi jealous of the people who got it sooner, but I have also seen post about people with drive train issues, and other software issues.

Also also, in this place, we are likely to hear about all the problems people have because happy people are less likely to post about it.

Edit: Additional thing, I had dealers negotiating a reduction in price for me. The neighboring dealerships that I had been talking with had contacted me and said they could beat my current deal. They all were just recently flooded by fixed cars at the end of their production year. Good times.

Edit Edit: I was upfront with everyone and my original dealer came down and "beat" the other dealers. It was nice.

How do you know which port it's at? On MYBMW, it just says "at the port."

once you know the ship (your agent can tell you this), you can follow it on the marine traffic app (or website). the free version is limited to real time tracking only when close to land. this can easily tell you the port, for example.

for $1, you get satellite tracking and can see it no matter where it is located.

Been a long ride. On March 8th, I cancelled the 2023 50 and moved to a 2024 60, as the original order was still sitting at the VPC.

The 60 arrived at the port yesterday and my dealer expects it on his lot next week. Getting close.
