The sales manager at my dealership just emailed to tell me that BMW Canada told them that all June and July production allocations were cancelled are are being pushed out to August. Has anyone else heard this? He's expecting confirmation this week. I don't know if it applies beyond Canadian iX50 builds. My iX50 had been scheduled for week 25/26 so this is… let's keep it family-friendly and just say disappointing news if true. Might be time for some more cross shopping. I'll post more info if/when I get it.

Right now we are planning on both. My husband will take the iX and I will take the Taycan. Of course, a recession could change that plan, in which case I will keep my Cayenne E Hybrid.

The status of my car is "in the paint booth" but I still don't see the deletion of the passenger lumbar or hands free liftgate on "my garage." Does that mean I have them?

You should call bmw genius to ask. Mine is in transit now and also stopped showing the deletes in mygarage, but I called to ask and the person said the deletes are still present.

Seems like we are all wondering the same thing...
Anyone seeing the emergence of an average time for production, now that things seem to be smoothing out in the production cycle? Would love to be in the seat in the next few weeks. This is my first foray into the world of BMW and I have no idea what to expect as far as, well...anything from timing on production to everyday driving to maintenance and warranty. For the purpose of this post, I suppose I'd like to get a handle on when I might expect to actually be in the driver seat.
Paid the deposit a while back, but it went into production queue (status 150??) some time last week. Not really sure what any of that might mean, but that's where she's sitting. |

Updating the timeline. Seems whatever issues are holding up some vehicles don't apply to all.
10/2021 - order given to SA ~5/6/22 - status 150 6/24/22 - exterior body assembly, paint booth 6/27/22 - entering assembly line 6/28/22 - assembly in progress, quality, check, final assembly, ready for transport, awaiting carrier assignment 6/29/22 - dispatched from factory 7/4/22 - at the port 7/11/22 - in transit (to Galveston, TX for delivery in TX) I called the BMW genius today, and the man told me it was actually loaded onto the Victoria Highway and left Bremerhaven 2 days ago. So the MyGarage site clearly isn't very accurate. Quote:

From October to probably August? Damn. Patience of a saint. That month and a half in 150 is...suboptimal. |

I dunno. It seems like that's most people's experience who put in early requests for these. I'm looking forward to a return to normalcy in the next few years in which I can just order a car I like and have it in 2 months.

What might a typical production timetable look like? I’m scheduled for week 35 (Aug 21-27).
Delivery to east coast might take how long under “normal” Conditions ? (Recalls have been resolved, no carrier backup etc ) |

That, in fact, is never going to happen. Even with a tailwind. Even in "normal" times. So add a month to that. That's semi-realistic, in the most favorable current circumstances. If the Teutonic gods do not smile on you, add another month. That's approaching a real, true, get-interested-after-that-date. For a guideline, real world now perspective, I ordered my iX in February. The first week. It's in Baltimore currently, waiting for a recall update. It may, or may not, be completed at the end of this month. Assuming it is, that will be another week transiting to my dealer, best case. Which will be 6 months, beginning to end. Ish, total. Others, I believe, have been waiting longer. FWIW: my iX 50 exited the factory on May 5 and I took delivery (in Canada) on June 30. The longest delays would have been at the Bremerhaven port as well as in the port of Halifax. In all, almost 2 full months and the Don Carlos went directly from Bremerhaven to Halifax.
Enjoying the iX immensely. A few bugs, but nothing too serious. I am missing the speed limit display which I understand in not yet available in Canada. Too bad really, because I had it on my 2017 540i. |
