Europe is getting free retrofits, and we can't even pay to have it. Come on, BMW. And we are your most important market?

Had a call from my dealer to book in for my complimentary Display Key fitting for the 1st week in August. Will see if it comes with the case thrown in...

Hope that the battery of the new key lasts longer.
I'm on drop in and wait appointment - perhaps they'll have the £55 user manual for me to read whilst I'm waiting. After paying £112000 for the car I thought the key cover would have been a throw in

For those getting the retro fit FoC how old is your vehicle? My dealer is still saying £600 for my Sep 15 car

I believe it was for cars that were Q1 2016 onwards.

Ian - did they provide you with part numbers for the case and in particular the manual? Seems rather odd to be charging for a manual that should come with the key...

User manual? Mine has none, and what price??? £55..... why so expensive?

PS. My DisplayKey is currently showing about 75% charged (not sure exactly). I last charged it the day I got it.

Mine will be done FoC. Took delivery on xmas eve 2015. Had a very odd convo with the dealer though. They asked me how many miles the car had done as this affected the parts they needed!?!?!?!

Superflous gadget for a superfluous gadget? I bought one of these induction chargers that seems to work well.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Even though a charge is supposed to last 3 months, I couldn't resist.

This is small and has soft squashy rubber sides and so can be pushed down into the bottom of the arm rest cubby for in car charging, but you'll probably need to secure the key with an inelegant elastic band to stop it moving off the charge pad during driving.

Personally, I keep my key in my pocket and so use this as an in house charger - just have to rest my key on it overnight. No faffing with cables. £11 vs plugging a micro usb in once every 3 months? Bargain ;-)

Yes. I would imagine any Qi charger would work. The one in the link I provided is perfect imho.
