Outside of Big Bend and Ft Davis / Guadalupe, Texas is totally flat. The Hill Country is just that, hills. Max elevation is 2,400 ft. They're fun driving roads, but it's still pretty flat compared to what any mountainous state offers.
I just got back from a week in Santa Fe, and all but the last twenty miles of that drive from Dallas is essentially flat lands. Roads in DFW are dreadfully boring, you've certainly got it better down there. Hill Country and the Big Bend area are the only entertaining driving roads we have and they're eight hours drive apart from each other. Just typing this and I miss Southern California canyon roads. |

If you live in King County you pay a transit tax on your car tabs. My tabs are almost 300 and 200 of that is transit tax. Move to pierce country and you don’t pay the transit tax.

Just under a week until they shut down 1 of 2 highways that run North / South through the city. Come back next week and see just how stoked us Seattleites who commute in and out of downtown every day are....

What direction do you come in from? I'm actually pretty lucky in that I have a bus that picks up in front of my house near Greenlake and dumps me off at Husky Stadium. Link from there straight to Westlake. Pretty easy. |

I live in Wallingford and work in Tukwilla (Boeing Field). If you can swing early/off hours the commuting is pretty nice. I get in to work around 4:45am and my commute is around 20-30 minutes in the morning. In the afternoon I normally shoot up 99 and am home without slowing down at all. Viadoom might put a little crimp in that for a few weeks but afterward I will be tunnel home every day.
![]() As for living here, as others have said, it is spendy. I wouldn't trade the area for anything though. The weather is actually pretty nice compared to other areas in the the US. I don't have to shovel anything and I don't melt in the summer. The views and surrounding areas here are amazing as well!

Thought about this thread when I spotted this car while walking the dogs this weekend.
Seattle: Where the rain never stops and people dont give a f*uck about their cars (or yours). Can you imagine how much care this person will take in not door-dinging your precious BMW when they snuggle up next to you in the parking lot? |
