True Detective - Season 3
Has anyone started watching the new season? I've read some mixed reviews. Looks like it's a bit slow. I loved the first 2 seasons. Didn't see a thread on this so sorry if it's been discussed. What's everyone's impressions? Thanks.

I hated season 2 but Season 3 is looking tight like Season 1.

I like it so far. I thought season 1 was a masterpiece, but didn't think season 2 really lived up to it. We'll see where this new season takes us, I'm optimistic.

Agreed. Season 2 wasn't as good as 1. That set such a high standard. Although, it was nice seeing Rachel McAdams!

Two episodes in and I think Season 3 will be excellent - great bounce back after an awful season 2.

Definitely shows promise. Watched episode 1 of Season 3 last night and thought it was very good, harkening back to the stylistic elements that made Season 1 so good.

That’s the style though; it’s a slow burn. It’s also “layered” in that if you re-watch an episode, are likely to notice something you missed before. The pace will pick up in intensity as you get closer to the finale.

We're only three episodes in, but this could turn out as good as Season 1. It's got all the elements, including fantastic casting. Definitely much better than Season 2.

Story is slowly developing but it's been slower then molasses in wintertime. Looks like it's going to pick up steam now. The last episode had a little cliffhanger at the end when the Indian dude barricaded himself in his house bobbytrapped with claymores. One of those aggressor guys or likely more are about to find out the hard way what an APM can do to human flesh.

Finished season 2 last night, disappointing after season 1. Started season 2 last night, my wife started nodding off midpoint in first episode so paused to restart tonight. Looks good though.
