Thanks guys, the car had to go!
Thanks guys, the car had to go! I was increasingly driving with the front seats full of childrens stuff and with 2 child seats it just was not providing in everyday situations! Also I drove a lot in emode, and when I needed power, the engine was cold, not good. So ultimately I also would have liked more power, closer to my old Panamera Turbo. Beautiful car anyway, it will be missed!

I have the same challenge regarding switching to the ICE when more power is needed. I adapted by doing at least 2 miles in the early part of my drive with the ICE running and solved the problem. What are you contemplating for as your replacement? |

Thank you. I bought a Tesla P85D Ludicrous showroom car, didn't want to go away from electric. I was sad to see it go, but day to day compromises, after 1 year it was too much.

Enjoyed reading your posts on the i8. Sorry to see you go. Can't blame your decision, a four door is more practical when it comes to a family of four or more.

Agree that i8 is not practical for anymore than 2 in the car. Unless the other two are not older than 10!! I went from M4 to i8 but I'm not feeling the impracticality as I rarely carried anyone in the backseat. You need another set of wheels for those purposes which my wife has a 3GT.
Have fun with P85D!! Awesome car.

I wonder about the cold engine, long term we will find out more I guess. I try not to overthink it though, the engineers must have thought of it when building these cars I hope. And if the engine blows up, others will probably do so before mine, I only have 2000 miles yet.
Good luck with your Tesla, friends of mine love them..... |

Thanks guys! I love the acceleration and space so far. Also love the fact that no crowd of children around the car when I take kids to daycare. I also thought about changing the X5 M50d to a Model X, but we need a family car with a long range, so ordered a Q7 etron instead.
Started to worry about reliability in the i8 when I suddenly got a check engine without any reason and I really drove the car like a grandmother. They had the i8 for a week and calibrated the batteries and engine and the light went away. So basically no fault. |
