In 2015 BMW announced that they will double production capacity in 2016, and they really did. I ordered my i8 full option begin of March (down payment was done on March 3rd) and my contact at BMW told me today that the car has arrived in Switzerland yesterday. This means it took only 4.5 weeks, just amazing. Can't wait to pick it up.

Bmw should learn one thing or two from Porsche. They should slow production down to starve mkt and create desire for the car. Look at the 991r!

I bought the i8 looking at it as having all the ingredients of a future classic. Bmw is really about to fuck it up.

If Bmw want Porsche customers, they must watch and learn...

Nobody buys the car and into the hype anymore. Porsche is way smarter about their Halo car vs. BMW, which sucks for us owners.

Enjoy the car, it is a cool and fun vehicle.

Interesting thoughts. I don't think starving the market is a good move and agree that it is not a question of hype anymore. I more see a problem of maintaining cost and quality. Jaguar and Aston are good examples. Jaguar is loosing its prestige status as they enter the midrange segment and they will have a hard time there. Aston is increasing cost and at the same time cuts down on material quality (check out the DB11), I do not think that this will get them back on the sales target.

Anyhow, my color is white with blue accent and Halo interior.

I really don't get the whole production volume discussion.

C1 Corvettes are classics. I should know. They made 70'000 of them. That's 10 years worth of i8 supply. The i8 will be a rare car, no matter what.

Love your analogy, that's a long time to wait though. I am must being devils advocate here too pass time. I just need to drive more
