Head up display polarization

Does anyone know if it is possible to rotate the direction of the polarization of the head up display (90 degrees). The current orientation interferes with my sunglasses.

If that's possible it would be amazing as I have the same issue with my polarized sunglasses

page 91 of the owner's manual.

On the Control Display:

1. "Settings"
2. "Head-Up Display"
3. "Rotation"
4. Turn the Controller.

The polarization is built into the display screen. (Translated: There is no reasonable way to rotate it)

Opinion: Polarized glasses are bad for driving. (Ignoring the fact that almost every car has some LCD screen these days, causing the problems noted above) Polarized glasses are great when you are on the water (boating, skiing, etc) but when on the road, they make it harder to see wet areas on the road. That means that you might hit a big puddle or spill without realizing you were about to. Neutral Gray lenses are better. (Note: this comes from driving experience on the racetrack, where missing a fluid spill could have tragic consequences.)

Sorry if I'm...

I own no garage queens. If it's in my driveway, it's been ridden hard and put away wet. ...and now, with a light crust of Maine road salt.

This is to rotate the whole display by just agree degrees; not the polarization itself which is inherent to the display.

Talked to a technician and apparently it is not possible to rotate the HUD by 90 degrees. He also mentioned that this is a well known problem on all BMWs. Guess I have to invest into new sunglasses.

Yeah or just a different brand. A lot of manufacturers have started aligning their polarization at odd angles so that LCD displays are still visible. I've got a new pair of Ray-Bans that have a diagonally aligned polarization which works fine with all the cars I've used them in.

HUD disappeared!

Wow, wish I had know about this!
Just got some new Gucci prescription sunglasses - and can't see my HUD on any of my Bimmers!

I'll check with the optician tomorrow to see if there is an alternative way/direction to polarize the lenses as a previous poster said about RayBan's.

Otherwise, I'd definitely opt for non-polarized sunglasses.

I have non polarized sunglasses especially for the car since ages and switch as required because otherwise I prefer polarized. Polarized glasses can in certain angles to the windows and windscreen also cause a loss of visibility. They are in any case not suitable for driving, or flying where it is part of the exam questions to understand the risks of polarized glasses in cockpits.
