Debadging gives it a cleaner look and most imporant is when you wax or polish your car. You won't have the emblem in your way ever again.

This is funny. Three of my co-workers all de-badged. They are as follows, "05 645ci, '05 545i, and an '03 M3. Think they are trying to hide the fact they drive "lowly" cars.

i'm getting a 325i. i could have afforded the 330i or even 5 series if i wanted it, but I didn't. I'm 27 and my wife is 26. The car is for her. A 5 series is way too 'old' for a 26 year old, sorry. There is something about grandpa'ing something. I know a guy who is probably 25 and he drives a chromed out S500. Guess what? I think thats retarded. He is WAY to young to be in a big body benz imho. Now a 50+ year old I can understand... Do you think IS300 owners or GS3/400 owners have an inferiority complex when an LS430 rolls by? I doubt it.

Now regarding the 325i and 330i specifically, its not about being cheap (at least not for everyone, or not being able to afford it) it can be about bizn'ess as well. It doesn't make much bizness sense to pay 5k or whatever more for a car with the same engine that has been only tuned to produce the difference in horsepower. Sorry. Now, if I didn't come from an import tuner past, I may have very well got the 330i. But after owing several modded hondas, I have realized that there are certain times when you SHOULD spend more, and when you shouldnt. for example, with the integra gsr, it was worth the difference in price over ls/gs to get the vtec engine. I'm not sure if i'm going to debadge or not, but if it makes the posters who think only 325 ppl debadge feel better, i had debadged my prelude emblem. You should usually leave the manafacturer logo, but definitely debadge the model, that is very common in the tuner world, regardless of the model. No one really cares, it just simply looks better. You guys do realize the 3 series is ripe for tuning? i.e. all the aftermarket performance/style parts. no need to keep the 325i OR 330 OR M3 emblem. its just not clean looking. I'll see how my car looks in person and then decide what I wish to do.

Holy crap! I suggest you do this if you haven't.

I just debadged my 325I and it looks 10 times better then I thought it would. Makes the back end look so much smoother and classier. I just need to find a rear deck spoiler I like or even a rear roof spoiler to finish off the rear end.

Im also about to debadge. so you 330 owners can chalk another 325 owner up to debadge. im not gonna go on and on about how i could have afforded a nicer car, and im JUST debadging because it looks cleaner. but i DID own an acura 3.2tl TYPE-S. and that got debadged right away. and it obviously wasnt for any reason except it looked better. and im sure a lot of people boggeled their mind trying to figure out of it was a type s or not.
Anyway, more importantly, what are you guys using to clean any glue residue off. i have windex and goo gone, but i dont wanna use anything that MIGHT effect paint.

The goo-gone should work. I used wd-40. Make sure whatever you use you wash and wax the area after. I took mine of right away with a heat gun (not too hot!) the used dental floss to pull it off. Peice of cake, and there wasn't much residue to speak of.

1-I just used a heat gun to soften it.

2-Dental floss to get behind it and get the numbers off.

3-Grab the end piece of the adhesive and pull slowly, it comes off all in one piece if your carefull.

4- I used no chemicals whatsoever what was left I rubbed off with my finger just like you would on a new credit card when you peel the activation sticker off.

5- The tinyest bit that was left I just clayed off of the car.

Done without a scratch and no harsh chemicals used. Looks great!

I'm not debadging because:

A) It is a lease, so don't want to alter the car at all cause then I gotta put it back when I'm done.

B) I spent that extra $6K, dammit! Hehehe.

(Mostly A though)
