Nice job on the video. Good information for anyone who has not done this before. If I might add one suggestion. I have found that a wheel hanger alignment tool makes for a much easier job, particularly with the weight and size of ix wheels. Two hangers would make things even easier.

I have one of this ( I think they call it wheel alignment tool). Maybe I should buy a second one?
Here is my question: I have one hydraulic Jack with that BMW jack adapter pass, and two floor jacks with a U shaped vehicle contacting point ( see pic) How do I jack up my car to rotate tires ( not to switch is switch winter tires in, which will be much easier in scheme. for rotation there are no extra tyres)? Any suggestion? |

If that is correct, you can jack the center of the front...there is a round jacking point underneath. Then place your jacks under the normal jacking points. |

that center front jack point probably is a good place to start if anyone knows where to find that... I tried to look under, no obvious suspects |

Thanks you very, very much crst4s. Exactly what I was looking for. Bought three for as noted above these wheels/tires (especially the 22”’s I am getting) are heavy.

Like I said on FB, great video and info. I’ve done this swap 8x through my tire shop and you don’t really need to disable the air suspension. Just turn the car off.
This is the “right” way to do it though so thanks for the service. |

Hey all - does anyone run winter or all seasons in the 22 inch? The tyre place I was about to get to install them have said they've had issues with xdrive in the past and he called a 4x4 expert and bmw technical who both said emphatically to not put non-star-marked tyres onto a BMW.
I can't see any all seasons or winters with a star mark in the 22 inch size... What sizes are others using?

Now, I would accept it if they said low profile wheels don't give you much protection from potholes in winter or use of snow chains. But to point to a "4x4 expert" is just FUD. I've had 100 hours of off-road training and have done years of off-road driving, does that make me a 4x4 expert?

The difference in the compound between the OEM version and the BMW one is minimal. Your car may perform better with the * version, but there is nothing dangerous about using high quality non-* tires and anyone who says the contrary is lying. Anyone making the argument that the fact they weren't * tires ruined the AWD hardware is full of crap. What can cause hardware issues in cars with traditional xdrive mechanical components is using badly mismatched tires, whether that is in terms of grip and/or size. **EDIT** I see that you are not in north america... You need to check how warranty claim denials work in your country. Here, the burden of proof is on the manufacturer; they have to prove that what you did actually caused the issue they deny the claim for. This *may* not be the case where you live. Quick update. I’ve ordered the 21 inch wheels with the Goodyear winters on.
I might run the two separate wheel sets and change over myself or if I find it too much hassle I might just get a set of summer tyres and change the tyres over on the 21s. I do prefer the look of the 22s and I have to say it’s pretty smooth driving on the 22s.

Looks quite nice I think - the colours go with the oxide paint…
