First Electric M (i4 M50) Not Built For The Track

BMW said the first Electric car to have an M is not a replacement for the M3/4.

I don't disagree.... there will be an EV ///M, but it wont be the i4 M50. I consider the i4 M50 similar to the M550i or M550d... the ///M team has twisted some knobs to eek out a bit more performance, etc, but it's not an ///M designed-from-the-start platform.

My $0.02

Yeah, I'm not disappointed. Just pointing it out.

it doesn't make me want it less.

Being track-ready is not part of the BMW definition of M Performance so this is no defect, it is the feature.

i4 M50 is M-performance, so it probably should be compared to M340i instead of M3.

In fact the 0-60 times of i4 eDrive40 vs. 330i, and i4 M50 vs. M340i, are very close.

Never said it was a defect.

And as I said, it doesn't make me want it any less.

I'm referring to the Road and Track article... clickbait.

Not surprised really, figured this was more M440i than M4, especially the interior after seeing it. Wasn’t planning on any track days with it anyway (lol), but still undecided tbh
