It's nearly $10K more than the comparable ICE and $15K-$16K than a comparable Model 3. Just because it has batteries does not mean it should be more expensive than an ICE.

"Let's save the planet!" And put all the burden on consumers while corporations are making 20-30% more per vehicle.
Model 3 and i4 are in a completely different league, except for both being EVs. It doesn't make sense to compare their prices.
It's like comparing Civic to 3 series.

If you don't drive like a maniac you can get very high ranges from the i4. So I think we need to see some head to head comparison with the model 3 before we can say how far behind it is

Hi There, there was no opportunity to drive the vehicles. All indoor visuals for the test marketing. I am going with BMW numbers. You are probably right.

If anything, that's probably the strategy, get Tesla owners to just go check out the BMW EVs and be blown away by the fit a finish. Even a model S has a trash interior (haven't seen the new one).

But for me here in Canada, EVs of that price don't have government rebates. The M50i I would want is 85k + taxes...

Well that is not entirely true. You haven't seen an I4 in person yet. Also the performance of the Model 3 is superior to an I4. They aren't fully apples to apples comparisons.

I'd never purchase a Tesla or Lucid. There's more to a car than "the numbers" and even if the i4 falls short in performance, price and range, they are established in areas that matter most to me and Tesla falls short in.
Ecatly. Would not buy a car that looks like it was built in a backyard shed, regardless of the range.

I paused where i could get a glimpse of the guess o meter on the car either the car has with the 20 inch wheels horrific range or the car has been driven really hard because in one of the frames you can see 70% charge and 200 km left..... now that would be a bummer

Car is probably just sitting still with power on for most of the time, hence massive energy consumption per km

I saw G20, G22 which i4 is similar to, and many BMWs in the last 30 years. Tesla is not even close to the quality, fit and finish and overall care that BMW gives. (Not just BMW. Pretty much anything $40K+ from Europe, even from Japan is better than any Tesla).

Chevy Bolt is in a different league with fit and finish vs Tesla.
If Chevy had the quality of Tesla, they would be bankrupt.

Tesla gets a pass because they were had/have some good battery tech. Tesla is a very good tech company that is very bad at building cars.

Even their "Auto Pilot", without radar I don't care what Musk says, the thing can't perform in dense fog. Radar based systems will at least be able to tell you if something like a rock is in front of you. I don't trust vision only systems.

We shall see in the long term.

I'd keep your range powder dry until it launches.... germans are notorious for sandbagging stats.... Porsche Taycan range was found to be better than was stated.... Also, Tesla's stated range is nowhere close to actuals.... best I can get is ~240 miles in mine... and EPA was 305 when purchased.

Cheers!
