This is pretty much the kind of thing I want:
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false

less than 20k miles, under 80k, meteor grey, sexy interior, fast, southern car (no exposure to cold winters and salt)... It's going to be really hard not to pick one of these over other things.

^ sick! yea i'd prefer a 997.2 gt3 over a 997.1 turbo any day.. for the 997.1 gt3's i'd have to put a little money into them to update the looks a bit (997.2 tail light upgrade which includes a new rear bumper, and 997.2 rear wing) but that shouldn't be more than 3-4k max

Ya I agree with your looks comment. They made slight updates that make a big difference in my opinion. Anyways good luck with your search in the future!

Maybe the Evora S that is coming out soon will be worthwhile. It gets a supercharged Toyota-based engine with 345bhp and 295lb ft of torque, plus other goodies... so should be pretty quick. Hey, at least the toyota engine should be reliable...

What about a Lotus Exige S - it will for sure turn heads and handles like a go-kart! Unless you are a bigger guy, it would be a good fit and you can save a ton of money.

Yeah the 997.2 GT3 looks so much fucking better than the 997.1 it's unreal. The bumpers and lights make such a huge difference, and the wheels are basically perfection.

GT3 ...

2012/13 M3 but to be honest.. ill take the 2012 GTR instead.

I also just saw this on Jalopnik. It's their review of the Evora S, and it seems quite positive.

Because it's always a bad thing to do your homework in advance for a big money item, right? He's getting a good idea of whats out there so he knows in advance what to go test drive and look at over the period of the next year.

To the OP:

I would say go for a Turbo over a GT3, because you still have your Cooper S for when you want to have a blast going around corners. I've driven one of those things and I didn't even go over 40 mph and I was having so much fun. The Turbo will give you your looks, straight-line power, and reliability, and the Mini is for when you want to have fun carving up a mountain.

If you decide on the GT-R at all, definitely wait for the 2012's to drop in price. My friend just picked up a '12 and it's just so much better all around.

997.2 GT3 would be a sick choice as well but I'm not sure how great it would be for DD'ing like you originally stated.

A cayman R / boxster spyder would be a perfect choice! Plus you still get some spare dough at the end, for maintainence, mods etc! Good luck!

A Spyder in white looks sickeningly beautiful. Also saw one in a dark metallic blue/grey with silver accents causing my jaw to drop into the floor like an anchor. Would be a great alternative if you can't manage a lightly used GT3.

+10000 on the white Spyder

I saw this 458 at the Sandpearl on Clearwater beach with that same color scheme (basically) and I had the same reaction:

That roof was destined to be used in a two-tone scheme. Gorgeousness.

I would say turbo...Friend has one and he is in love with it and it is very reliable. That would be the only porsche you should consider IMO. Only thing that would bug me with this car, is that the new 911s will be out by then. And that the turbo isn't as sporty as the GTR IMO, but it is more luxurious.

I hope you choose the right choice, and I hope to see some pictures of that choice when you make up your mind
