I would eat the same meal (3x) a day for a year for a million dollars.

Reminds me of the "Super Size Me" guy who ate McDonalds for every meal except it was only for 30 days. He filmed it and made a documentary.

Not to derail this thread - but I had McDonalds for the first time since maybe 10 years ago a few weekends ago.

My order was just a Quarterpounder meal (with cheese), regular fry, bottled water.

I was thinking as I was eating it how good it was and why I don't do it more often.

It took about 20 minutes after I was done before I literally felt horrible. Not food poisoning or anything like that but my body just felt horrible like I needed to take a nap.

That's how the guy in "Super Size Me" felt after eating. Guess that tells you something about McDonald's food. Not that we didn't already know. lol

The thing that's nuts is that a million dollars isn't the life changing sum of money that it is anymore. This question used to really mean "what are you willing to do for a sum of money that makes you set for life?". I don't think you can really say that anymore…

Yeah, a million dollars ain't what it used to be.

I also don't want to derail this thread - but the guy in "Super Size Me" misrepresented his results. When he was asked to provide his actual meal plan, he declined. When adding up the actual caloric intake based on what he reported he was eating, it didn't add up to the amount of calories he was reporting on.

What was suspected of actually happening was that he realized his results would have been much milder than he made them seem - which obviously wouldn't have sold his documentary. So he sensationalized, exaggerated, and straight up lied to make it seem much more extreme than it actually was.

Beyond that, I don't work for McDonald's and never have, but I have consulted for them in the past and have visited the processing plants of their suppliers as well as spent some time in the kitchen at some of their restaurants, and I can tell you the meat they use is no different than the meat you find at your local grocery store. The potatoes they use are no different than the potatoes you find at your grocery store. There aren't any special additives or chemicals they add in beyond what you normally get. Their food is of similar quality to what you get at any grocery store, and their cooking process, while highly structured to follow a process to minimize wait times, is fundamentally the same as what you'd follow if you cooked at home.

I think the reason they get all the flak is because they're the biggest and it's easy to put a target on them. That's why you have such misleading documentaries like "Super Size Me" or articles showing how McDonald's food doesn't decompose (new flash, the burger you cook at home will also not decompose assuming you put salt in it).

Anyway, rant over... please continue

Interesting. Didn't know that. Haven't had McDonalds in a while. I am now encouraged to go out and get some.

Does not sound that appetizing. I think I'd rather listen to Menudo.

My FAVORITE Mexican food is posole. Close, but no cigar. Posole has either pork shoulder or chicken, depending on the regional influence.

There are parts of the animal you just aren't supposed to eat. Tripe is one of them. I don't care how hung over I might be, not going to do it.

The broth, on a nice pan blanco is still good.

I went to 'The Crazy Chicken' the other day and had their new Shredded Beef Birria tacos that you dip in consommé. Was very tasty.

Bill Burr has a bit about McDonald's and giving it to kids to put them to sleep because their small bodies can't handle the dose of poison.

That depends. If by life changing you mean, "Now I can take charter jets and never work again," of course not. You need tens of millions for something like that.

If you mean, "Life just became a lot more comfortable and way less stressful," absolutely. $1 million dollars would let me pay off our mortgage and student loans. Buy a toy car for myself and drop $700k into various market/retirement accounts.

With our current salaries we could start maxing out our 401k's every year, adding more to the existing retirement accounts and use our money to travel more and stuff like that. And then retire early with a decent lifestyle.

I think for people who aren't in the top 5% or higher, that is absolutely life changing money.
