Airbag and restraint error

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Got one of these bad boys today. Took it to dealership. They said they have to replace a wiring harness. Should be back in a couple of days.

I also asked for the software upgrade and was asked to explain the EV lag issues and provide detail so they could request approval. Will report back.

My dealership identified the problem and fixed it, no charge. There is a related service bulletin.

The fix was to replace a wiring harness. I found some of the notes interesting:

1251540 Remove and install replace wiring harness section for range extender electrical machine electronics

Found Fault Code # 930BE8 / High voltage system switch iff: resistance too high . . . . as per service bulletin # 65 07 15 - Harness replacement required

I also got the software update and I'll talk about that in the pertinent thread.

Nice one. Doubt I'll get the same treatment from Sandal BMW Wakefield, although they have swapped the 2 series courtesy car for an X6 4.0D to save my travelling blushes ;-)

Car back and retrainst system fault all sorted......except I now keep getting the Idrive No Signal/reboot fault. Occurred a dozen times since i collected the car last Friday.

A well know issue on other models, though I cant find an i8 related threads.

A coincidence or a fat fingered BMW tech doing more damage whilst 'fixing the electrics'?

I'd book it back in with Sandals and get them to sort it.

Have done. Be a while before I can report back, as I'm on holiday. Also set up a new thread for that specific issue.

That Restraint System Failure Message popped up the dash in my car too . It seems it won't disappear by just turning on / off the car
