Car insurance providers UK
Hi guys
Just a quick question. Who do you use for insurance? I insured my i8 roadster with BMW insurance last year, I've been with them for years for various other cars mainly a couple of 6 series. I've just been informed that they've changed underwriters to highway insurance and BMW insurance will now no longer insure the i8 or any M cars due to them being classed high performance. I queried as to why but was told they won't cover them at all. The new provider was cheaper for other models in the range over the previous underwriters, great lakes, so BMW went with them due to having more insurance tied to other models. So long story short who do you guys use? Thanks |

I'm 48 no points, Full NCB car locked behind gates in a driveway in a semi rural setting. I was £427 last year for the roadster with BMW with zero excess.
Cheapest I can get is 600 with a 1k excess or 700 with a black box fitted. Don't fancy fitting anything onto the obd port as the i8 doesn't play well with anything fitted there I've heard? |

Admiral - about £900 with I think £5-750 excess. Which was about £1000 cheaper than anyone else!
34, Male, live in a City Centre flat (garaged), 13 years NCB, no motoring offences. Would be about £600 if I lived in a house out of the city. Before this I was paying £650 for a battered 335i that was worth about £2,000 . Location plays a big part, admiral have been good for me though! |

Thanks guys
I'm in the middle of nowhere and car is locked in grounds at nights and in a secure compound during the day, has a tracker fitted etc but admiral are pushing for a black box which puts me off a bit. |

Admiral Multicar - the more you buy, the cheaper they all become to insure!

Darwin insurance was the best value for me with the i8 (£383). I had a similar experience to others, tried to transfer my policy at my previous provider from the Maserati to the i8 when I purchased it, but they didn't offer insurance for the i8.
