Current Leasees and/or owners
Would you buy out your lease to keep your i8 or is it not worth it for whatever reason? Basically, what are you plans for your i8 at the end of your lease? Anything you didn't like about the i8? Reliability issues?

I haven't decided about end of my lease in 2 years, but I do love the car and might consider keeping it. However, I suspect I'll go for something else just to take advantage of the technology improvements that continue to occur with BEV and hybrid cars.

I'm two years into a four year deal and also haven't decided yet, depends what else I can do at the time I think. Will definitely be getting the extended warranty though if I do after my recent fuel tank issue!

I own my i8.
Had it for 3 years. Zero reliability issues except for the fuel tank pressure issue which I fixed in 2 minutes for free. Great, fun, beautiful car. Can’t think of anything else to buy that is as inexpensive to own and fun to drive for the money. |

Well... not exactly fixed, but the problem was eliminated.
Take a look at my posts on the “Fuel Door locked me out” thread. Last edited by Coastali8; 07-04-2019 at 06:10 PM.. |

BMWFS will not allow original leasee or anyone in the household to buy the car for less than the agreed residual value. Makes no sense; but that is their policy. I wanted to buy my 2016 as it only had 4k miles; instead leased a 2019.

thanks for your input everyone! Going to wait and see how prices fair once more 2017s start coming off lease. I personally wouldn't one of the later ones as I'm sure there have been some minor revisions/improvements made along the way since its been released.
