Need your help before i buy!
Hello community, I am close to making a purchase of a CPO 2015 i8 pure impulse. Car is in excellent condition with 13k miles. but just wanted to get the thoughts. Purchase price is $80,500, which is on the higher end, but they are including an extra year warranty on top of the year CPO making it 2 years after the factory warranty expires (which is in about 4 months. In addition, they will pay for the shipping cost (around $1000.00).
Does the price seem reasonable? Also, ive test driven several of the newer i8's including the roadster. I'm not tall chap, and often i have to increase the seat height vertically in cars. I know the newer power seats raise up vertically, but can anyone confirm that the 2015 power seats do as well??? Also, when doing long road trips, say 1000 miles, would i need to ever charge the battery mod-trip or can i get away with just gas and using sport mode to recharge the battery while driving?? I would appreciate your feed back, I am new to Bimmerpost, but you all seem pretty awesome responding to requests and concerns regarding the i8. You all rock! |

I bought my car about 3 months ago and never charged it, its always in sport mode.
The seat goes up. Mine is also a pure impulse, 2015, cpo, had around 30k miles when i got it for 63k. 80 seems normal to me for 13k. |

The average price of a 2015 is currently about $75k, depreciating at an average of about $1k per month. From those numbers, $80k might be reasonable for a low mileage example with some warranty and shipping thrown in. Personally, I'm letting the dealers take the $12k/year depreciation hit for a few more months-years before I buy, but that's a personal choice.

Extremely overpriced. I am finding the same for 65-70k. Why would you pay 10-15k more ?

Thanks for help folks! In regards to the one you mentioned SPPR, https://www.truecar.com/used-cars-fo...5/2015-bmw-i8/, this is a branded title/lemon buyback, per the carfax report i pulled. I have seen a few of these around at that price point and all have been branded cars. which could explain the price difference. Granted you can get a good "deal" on these types of titles, professionals often recommend against it. Depends on your risk tolerance i suppose.

That said, I would most definitely NOT go for a lemon/branded title/accident car, no way. I just don't see why anyone would buy in the 80k range these days, but it's your money ! |

I just purchased a 2015 CPO with 14K miles for $70K. They sell pretty quick around that price. However, I also saw the same spec car sell here locally in Tampa for $76K. From my research over the past few months, $80K is on the higher end.
As far as the $1K per month depreciation, I do not anticipate it will consistently keep depreciating at the curve. As long as you get it at a good price right now, you will minimize your losses if you decide to sell in a year or two. Just my two cents. |
