Would put it back on my radar. The 4 may be fast, but it's a poorly engineered thing in regards to lag, plumbing lengths and sound.

That’s really interesting. Porsche has proven that it listens very closely to its enthusiast base so i think this could be possible.

The part that makes it interesting is that as uncompelling as the 4cyl is in the 718, it’s clearly a better performer than the non-GT4’s flat sixes. So Porsche will be objectively making the car worse to appeal more emotionally to its customers?

The 4's lack of sense pleasing vocals was THE reason, imo. Numbers are stupid good, but...
I think they're struggling to sell them.

For 90k I want to hear the damn thing lol.

I would still take one if they drop in price drastically. Hell of a car...for a 4.

718 (codename 982) GT4 and Spyder will be coming out with 6 cylinder instead of 4.

I am waiting for Geneva show this March where they will be revealing them to actually see the car but many inside sources already confirmed it will be 6 indeed.

Porsche already revealed the new GT4 clubsport with 6 cylinder engine and it will make it down to the street car as well.

New 718 GT4 is essentially confirmed to have a flat 6. Question is which one? Everyone was speculating it'll be a detuned version of the 4.0L from the current 991.2 GT3 but rumors are pointing to a 420hp 3.8L instead.

Either way, it'll be a screamer.

Now seems like a great time to jump on the 981 GT4, especially if you want a 718 GT4. Reason being, you could likely get a used 981 and use the purchase to get on the dealer list for the 718 then trade it back in for a very minor loss. Otherwise you'll likely either be out of luck or paying a mark-up.

Yup completely agree. Even though the car looks and performs great people cannot get past the fact that it has a 4cyl. For that kind of money people sure don't expect a 4cyl engine.

That being said, I will def be keeping an eye on 718 gts prices over the next year or two
