It was a long time ago... The Glendale Galleria, I think.

When I mailed in the payment, I attached a note essentially saying "Doesn't parking enforcement have better things to do?"

I doubt they answered your question, so I will:

no, no they do not.

Does Glendale PD or LA County enforce parking at the Galleria? Were the stalls marked head-in only?

The LA parking authority is a nightmare. They sent me a citation for illegally parking when my car was in Chico with me. I sent them a sworn affidavit saying I was at a fundraiser (attended by the chief of police, the sheriff and the district attorney, who would all attest that I was there). Denied.

I didn't get access to the photos on the website until after the appeal was due. When I finally saw them, it turned out the car cited was similar to mine, but it was different color and didn't have plates. The meter maid had transposed numbers on the VIN.

And why the hell didn't they tow the car? The dealer paperwork taped to the windshield showed it had been sold 18 months earlier!

I appealed the initial decision, adding what I had found when I got the photos, and they denied it again. I finally faxed all 60 pages of info I had filed to the mayor's ombudsman and they immediately took care of it.

I don't remember... It was back in the 90's.

Seeing that I got a ticket, apparently so. I guess I didn't see the signs.

I don't see why backing in wasn't allowed... The spaces were straight in, not angled.

Aaah, Glendale Galleria in the 90's. That parking garage was like a scene from F&F before there even was a an F&F.

Anyway, I lived there and PD would go on a kick of enforcing certain rules from time to time. There was this one crosswalk where they hid an officer and ticketed people all day for not yielding to pedestrians. Other times it was blocking the box or not coming to a full stop before turning right.

Was your car modded? They tended to hassle those people for somewhat obvious reasons

That sounds about right.

Nope, my E36 was totally stock... Though it was bright red.

Wow...I wish I had the time on my hands to care that much about a parking ticket. Wouldn’t it have been a far easier to pay it and carry on with your life?

What happens if someone else waiting for you is having a medical emergency? A few seconds could save a life...

I honestly feel unsure when parking face-first now
This is exactly my habit from working as a valet over 10 years ago. I park much faster and more precisely when going in reverse, even accounting for pulling past and shifting into reverse.

I still go nose first in angled spots and my own garage, though. Angled spots for obvious reasons and at home my driveway/garage is better set for it. Driveway is at the end of the street and about 60' long so pedestrians aren't really an issue.

I won't park next to cars that back into parking lot spaces, because chances are high that they'll mindlessly try to squeeze a wonky and overstuffed shopping cart past the side of my car to get to their trunk or pickup bed.

I wish backing into spots kept more people from parking next to me.

every single time.
i have 3 tandem spaces (total 6 spots) and because 90% of my cars are low enough to touch the stopper(or parking block whatever people call it) i find myself parking backwards so i can park other cars in front without protruding into pathway other cars drive around to get to their parking spots...

I'd never back into a garage as I'd prefer to have my exhaust outlets facing outside instead of shooting exhaust at the doorway into my home.

I'm with Glenn on the fume deal. I live on a cul-d-sac one house from the end have a three-car garage and a 40 foot driveway so backing out is very easy and essentially pretty darn safe.

With all that going on, I can park 9 cars off the street and 2 more on the sides behind the respective gates. I am quite fortunate of course and wish it was that easy for all of you.

Back in always. It is safer to back out of traffic than into traffic.

Has anyone ever been hit backing out? I'm 45, driven seven figures of miles and can't really even think of a close call. I will not waste other's time with this stupid practice. Unless you're driving a 28 foot long pickup, this is silly.
