Anyone else going X7 to iX
Was curious if anyone else is thinking about going from an X7 to the iX.
We made the switch from the G05 X5 to the X7 because the backseat was too small for us. It was noticeable smaller than our 2016 X5! Regardless, we love the X7 (rear leg room, DHP handling and M50i engine), but I'm thinking of making the switch. We have two small kids (2 and 5), so might start using the trunk more with activities…but the X5 trunk was good enough for our needs. Considering the stellar reviews, we were thinking of making the switch. Anyone else having similar thoughts? |

As your kids get older, they will have more play dates, or carpool for sports or other activities, That may require you to use the 3rd row more often which the iX does not have. We have an X7, with 2 kids, (6 and 14) and with them doing school sports, clubs and other activities where parents routinely do carpool duties, we use the 3rd row quite often. So iX won't work for us. I am thinking about replacing the wife's X3 with an iX or even better iX3 if they would bring that to the USA. She just needs a small suv to commute to work everyday. Her daily commute is about 6 miles each way, so an EV would be perfect. She doesn't need something the size of the iX, that's why we wish the iX3 would come here. |

Thanks for the advice.
I agree with the three-row comment, but hopefully they'll have an iX7 in a few years! My only worry is residual value. Hard to guess what this will trade for in the secondary market. |

I gave that plenty of thought as well but the iX will be so difficult to locate on any lots in the first year that their residual value should be quite good. Supply and demand. Used Tesla Model Y's that are 2 or 3 years old are getting crazy high prices due to the many months buyers have to wait for a new purchase. The iX should experience something similar.

My local dealership offered me $85K on our 2 1/2 year old X7 50i toward a new X7 M50i. Ten months earlier they offered me $71K for the same deal. If cars continue to be in short supply next year, I have no worries about buying an iX and selling within a year if it doesn't fit the bill.

Also from X7 to ix
I also have an X7 (M50D) from September 2019. A lovely and beautiful car. But for some reason I have been persuaded to go electric. It will have to happen one day. I drive much less now than I will in 2019, so then electric is a good solution I think.
Important to me is the range. First I looked at the Audi, but that only has a range of 200 km. The ix50 can go much further, so that's nice. We'll have to wait and see if it makes me frustrated, or very happy. Now I have to wait another 10 months for my ix. But that is no problem at all. I still like to drive my X7. |

I'm considering the iX50 when my Volvo XC90 T8 lease ends next year which would bring me back to BMW again It's def. convenient to have the 3rd row available when needed occasionally but as my kids are fully grown now (20/17/17), we might be ok with an iX.
