M50 is quite keenly priced in the UK market. £63k for a 540Hp car that is likely 3.5s 0-60 etc

Tempting.

Because Teslas quality is atrocious. Its ride is atrocious. I does not feel special. The interior looks atrocious.

Buying Model3 I can understand as its good value for the money but now this M50 is almost in the same price point at least in our country. Teslas sales will plummet if these informed prices are really true. The M50 starting price here in Finland is 44 000 eur less than my Taycans. With the same performance and almost same range it will be selling very well.

Garage List
2023 BMW i7  [0.00]
I received the latest Auto Motor & Sport yesterday. They are testing electric SUVs so not a direct comparison with the i4. BMW iX3 in first place an Tesla Model Y last

1. BMW iX3
2. MB EQC 400 4matic
3. Jaguar I-Pace EV400S
4. Volvo XC40 P8 AWD Recharge
5. Mustang Mach-E AWD Long range
6. Tesla Model Y Performance

I'm actually surprised that BMW won since all the others were AWD and the test was in Sweden. It wasn't the best car at everything but it was the best car over all. The main issue with Tesla was its build quality and that it wasn't the best car to drive and use every day

I assume the i4 M50 will have the normal BMW build quality and with the attractive price here in Sweden, I'm sure it will sell like crazy. I'm considering one.

Thank you so much. Now I have something to post whenever Tesla fanatics keep repeating "Why would you not buy a Tesla?" in every forum.

I am surprised by this as well. Why did they find it not good to drive and use everyday? It has good range and performance.

The distance for me going to work is 2.5 kms return. So for me 240 miles is more than what I drive in a month.

Not everyone is buying a car for road trips.

For that distance some might even consider walking or taking a bike. Even better for the environment. But that would be another discussion.

What brought down the Mach E, please? I had that as a possible alternative, after what I expect to see from Genesis.

It's not how often. But when you do, and can't reach the destination, what do you do?

I guess what I'm saying is, if this is a car you'll drive every day, you know where you're taking it.

If you plan on taking it longer than it can go, rent a gas powered car.

A mediocre appliance at best.
On paper at least, that mediocre appliance will beat or come very close to your fancy schmancy G80 M3/M4 on a drag race, for $20K less.

If that's all I cared about Id get an old GXR1000 and save $20k on top of the hideous toaster-mobile

Do we know if the i4 will have RFTs or traditional rubber and spare tire?

We've seen that the i4 M50 has no frunk, but that almost can be explained by the front and rear engines. Do we know if the i4 eDrive 40 in rear wheel drive configuration also has no frunk?

No frunk in eDrive 40. The front is packed with tech as you can see on this image

That is a rear-wheel drive cutaway illustration? Amazing how others have figured this out and BMW could not?

Does anyone even use the frunk? Seems so gimmicky and something I would never see myself using.

If it was a Porsche with no boot then I would understand as you'd have no alternative but on a conventional car, I just don't see the point.

The frunk is pointless and basically anyone can just open it (on a model 3 at least) you pull a lever from underneath, apparently for the firefighters to get to the battery or something.

It relates to how I park at home. When I pull in to the garage in my house, it's a bit of a snug fit fore/aft for a car this size. The door from the garage into the house is at the back wall. So, if I were to be returning from a weekly trip to the grocery store, I would use the frunk for greatest ease, placing the bags essentially at the house door entry and avoiding shimmying between cars with the bags. Considering how much of the year is quite warm here in the desert southwest, our garages have AC and we don't leave the actual garage door open for more than needed for immediate vehicle entry/exit. Yes, a first world problem, but a convenience other OEMs seem to have addressed in an increasingly competitive market. It won't make/break the deal, but it certainly would have been preferred.
