Prob to him for accepting the fact and do his best to survive, but the story is hard to believe.

I mean if I was in his shoes, first thing would be encouraging the wife to work to help me out, sell the damn house 2 years ago and save as much money as I could to prepare for the worse time.

Also, I don't think it would be too difficult to find a 40-50k job for someone with his skills even in this economy.
