Love it! Are you going to document the install process?

Lol they always are!

Many of the retrofits I did where tens of hours of full custom work. Some took 6 months or more. My z4 was crazy amount of custom retrofits but it looked great and was one of a kind.

I share because I like to show others my path and the fun of it all. But sometimes I like to keep it to myself as I have one of one.

It's all good.

You don't always need to share what you did and just take joy of knowing you made it happen.

Congrats on the custom work and functional workings.

Luckily with soft close doors they don't require programming so you just need a door lock that you can make work with the i3 door carrier and wire it up with a hot and ground.

I'm trying to get the light pipes put into mine like the higher end full leather interiors have.

Also the i3 door latch is the same latch used in the 2 series, x1, x2, x5 and mini.

You just need to find the models with the power close actuators usually x5 have them and mount them up.

Wiring you will have to run/ a ground and power and you will more than likely have to make a custom mount for the power motor that pulls the cord. Not impossible.

It be harder if you didn't have models that use this latch power close already designed in.

Haha, indeed. I do like to share too, but this was way more work than expected. I haven't finished the driver side yet, so I can try to do an quick DIY. You have to do some rewiring of the OEM door harness to get it work as well as the pos and ground for the actuators.

Love it!

Love seeing the panels off. Just seeing the engineering is cool and all the aluminum and whatnot.

Also I love the fact I have a car that will never know rust! Lol. Living in the salt belt.

Their are advantages of owning a plastic car! Lol...

Also somewhat hail proof I found out a few years ago!

The cars in the driveway had over 3k worth of damage and the i3 was just fine!

Sorry off topic! .
