Does it bother you how angel eyes/halos are more common on other cars?

I see angel eyes/halos more and more especially on Dodge products. I know I'm nitpicking but I always considered this to be a 'signature' look for the BMW. Now I see them on Dodge, Chrysler and few others. Even halo kits are becoming more common for domestics.

People have been retrofitting or even creating angel eyes for headlamps since early 2000s at least. It's not a new thing.

I'm well aware of this. Now they're becoming more and more OEM on other cars thats all.

Does it also bother you that your BMW probably has side mirror indicator lights which was an original or signature trait of a Mercedes?

Things like this eventually get copied from car to car. That's just how it goes. While it doesn't bother me, I do miss the days when car companies had a distinctive visual trait that set them apart. BMW with halos, Mercedes with side mirror turn indicators, etc. Even HID headlamps used to have exclusivity to them and were synonymous with more expensive cars and SUVs.

Glad I'm not the only one bugged by this. Recently had some POS Chevy behind me with these, and it just made me sad. I know you can't trademark something like xenon lights, or the side-marker turn signals, but this is a style feature. Of course, it also used to be that if you knew s/b was driving a BMW it told you more about what type of driver they were - now that is also pretty generic so less is lost.

But first, lets get uniform bumper and headlight heights put into law for the trucks. They have been grandfathered in under the (now absurd) position that they are work vehicles and there aren't many of them out there. Now that these are one of the most popular vehicle classes, and being used for all kinds of commuting duties, it is insane to have them with bumpers right at kill height, and headlights at eye level.

+1 to change antiquated vehicle lighting laws and eliminate Truck/SUV blinding-light-pollution. Start with Lexus (I don't know how they get away with the ones on their RX, but I find them the worst coming or going) and work your way from there.

I think they are, but that hasn't stopped other companies from copying those either.

Pretty sure this just triggered the OP. lol

Halos were initially bmw patent and no other manufacturer was allowed to use halo type of lights on their headlights.

Unfortunately the patent is only valid for so many years. Even then the available exclusivity time frame is enough for everyone to always associate halos with Bmw.

So when you see other cars with halos, it just doesn't look right. It has already been adapted to be one of signature looks of Bmw. That's why you'll never see a Mercedes or Audi, or any exclusive car brand do halos.

It doesn't bother me, because it just looks off on all other cars.
