Question for i8 owners with a four-post lift

Do any i8 owners park theirs under a four-post lift? I'm wondering if there is clearance for the doors when they are fully open, or do they hit the bottom of the lift (assuming roughly 58" height from floor to bottom of lift)?

Thanks

I do sometimes. I'm not sure of the exact clearance - I can't fully raise my lift with another car on top due to garage height. In my case, the top rear corners of the doors do toch the bottom of the lift, but ever so gently. It's certainly good enough to get in and out.

Width is another thing to consider. It's quite a squeeze for me to get the i8 between the posts, espcially since I have to back up an incline to get under the lift.

I daily drive my I8 and park under standard 4-post lift. the doors hit the underside of the lift, but I have installed padding so the door does not get damaged. I can get in and out of the car without a problem.

Thanks! You don't have an issue with the width of the car fitting between the posts like Aye-eight does?

The car fits between the lift posts without a problem, I don't even have to fold in the mirrors to drive car under the lift.

That's what I figured, thanks! Looks like the only thing I have to worry about is the door hitting the underside of the lift.

I have about an inch of space for each mirror as I drive under the lift. And I can't fold them in, because I'm backing in - uphill. Good thing is, they make sure I'm centered and don't run the tires over the bases of the lift posts. That's another squeeze for me ...

I wanted to revive this old thread...my i8 Roadster is arriving this week and I'm trying to figure out which garage bay to park it in. Ideally I'd like to park it under my 4-post lift, but the windows from the doors touch the bottom of the lift.

I can try installing some foam as F5506m suggested. Anyone have any suggestions for parking under the lift?

Check out Heidi and Franny's Garage, who have an i8 as well as 5 Porsches. They park the i8 under a 4 post lift. They talk about some of their concerns. I'd reach out to them if you have questions as they are extremely helpful.
