Flaps on front bumper?

Anybody able to offer the reason why there are flaps on the front bumper, located just below the kidney grill?

They seem like they are able to move during driving, is this true? They're fixed whilst the car is still but they seem like they could move.

If so, I presume they are just for airflow/air intake?

You are correct, they open and close to regulate the airflow to the radiator.
