tire speed rating
Few months ago my rear passenger tire got a flat. Dealer put on a new tire.
Now I'm finding out that they replaced it with a 99Y, instead of the 99W that I had. So now I've got 99W on the rear driver, and the 99Y on the rear passenger. The tires are Bridgestone Protenza 245R4020 S001. Now I noticed the 99W on the drivers side, is pretty much bald. And, I'm finding out the 99Y is being phased out, so is very hard to get. Is it ok to have two different speed ratings on the rear tires? I do drive 150 mph once in a while, not often, maybe for 30 seconds tops. 130 mph regularly...110 mph all the time! |

The 99 is the load index for the tire. Both are the same for the same pressure.
The W and the Y are the speed ratings. Both are over 150 mph rated for sustained speeds. Won’t be an issue. |
