BMW confirms end of i8
Oh man, sad news.
It looks like they have a special edition to mark the end, color scheme doesn't seem to appealing. This makes me consider buying one though, as I do love the car. I wonder if they will be replacing it with something? |

Very curious to see at which price level the used i8 value bottoms out after production has stopped in April 2020. The majority of all i8's ever sold in The Netherlands are still leasing vehicles (mainly full operational business lease) that will require a private buyer after the lease ends. Not sure how easy it is to find a private buyer at the current entry level which is around €60K.
Any i8 at €60K is a great purchase, but supply and demand might push it to the low €50K-ish before private buyers jump on it. https://mobile.twitter.com/vettelecl...10845179441154 |

I purchased my i8 because I WANTED it. (Not with any concern for resale value). ...and I only did this because I wanted the Roadster. The Coupe was a non-starter for me. The Roadster was a fitting replacement for my M6 Convertible top-down summer fun car. Its also the ONLY EV (sorta) convertible that I'm aware of!
Although the i8 is pretty marginal at everything it does, it exceeds the sum of its capabilities. I have no regrets with my purchase, but it is rather odd that they will have only produced the Roadster for about a year when this all is said and done. Maybe this will help the resale value of the Roadster, but again, that's not why I bought the car. I have a Taycan Turbo S on order but also look forward to see what BMW delivers "iNext"...
