High voltage battery replacement

Threat about i8 high voltage battery replacement.

- What are the costs of replacement?
- Parts needed?
- Labour time? (How much time it takes - any info?)

PRE-LCI battery cell is part number: 61 27 8 610 459
Is there any other parts needed, if cells are replaced?

Found, that singe cell costs about 400 euros.
(For example: https://www.bmwautoparts.net/en/cata...1_3324/0/56361)

So 6 cells adds up to 2400 euros + labour.
This is well below here and there said "10 000 dollars" replcement costs.

Am I missing something or calculating wrongly?

There’s already another thread about that, in here.

I tried search but didn't find exact thread about this. About how much labor it takes, costs etc.

10k usd / eur price level seems to be BMW dealer prices.

If car is not under warranty anymore, it is a much cheaper to make this replacement with OEM parts somewhere elsewhere.

Using OEM Cells (as I linked in 1.st post) I guess this is doable around 4000 euros?

No, it’s 3rd party price. Not BMW Stealership.

Would be lovely if anyone would share any information they have on this. Agreed it's not worth it using the complete assembly but I got thinking:
1: You can replace the 3? modules with LCI modules? that would be a significant upgrade, but a bit costly for 30% more range.
2: Theres quite a few that upgrade the cells in the I3 battery, from my understanding its the same arcitecture, ie just more of the modules.
Here they replace the individual cells in that module. From what I can read upgrading the I3 22kwh to 53kwh is possible. Using the same math a 7kw pre lci should hit 17kw?
The I3 upgrades are not wildly exspensive, so using a lot less cells this should not be terribly costly?

Anyone know anything ?

All I know is bmw refuses to replace pre LCI batteries with LCI batteries. However after the battery replacement the hidden menu states a 5.6KWH capacity.
