Why's my dog eating foodd on his pee pad ?

Don't get it, there are 2 separate areas, his pee pad and his food area, his water and food bowl and mat, where we put food and drinks on.

He will either EAT where the bowl is or sometimes, pick it up, walk over to his pee pad, snuggle down and chomp down, even if there is pee on the pad, even if he has done a poo he will sit down next to it a chomp on down.

Dont get it. Sometimes when we feed him by hand, off he'll go, pee pad, lay down and munch.

But if the pad has too much soiling, he wont go pee on it.

So he wont pee on a used pee pad but he will eat

DONT GET IT

Generally the pee pad has some sort of attractant built in.

Do you go to a nice restaurant that smells good, even if it's in a shady part of town?

Get rid of the pad and train the dog to do his or her business outside in their natural habit. It will also reduce accidents if any accidents.
Peeing has been normalized for indoors so the dog has adjusted. Dog are dogs; they will adjust and eat anywhere especially when really hungry.

OK I get it, the pee pad is infused with an attractant, which is why he's drawn to it.

Dog's smell pee & poo and/or eat/lick etc so thats nothing that is "disgusting to them"

Maybe similar to taking your phone to the toilet, taking a dump and working..

OK got it, guessing what "they" smell is different

He might also like the texture of the pad. Our dogs like to take their treats to the carpet to eat them. Luckily they are not smart enough to move their food bowls.
