BMW wireless chargers damaging iphone 15s

This just appeared on CNET:
BMW's wireless charging can destroy your iPhone 15

Yet another bug is affecting iPhone 15 owners, and this is a really odd one.

My phone was fried

Brand new IPhone 15 pro, running IOs 17.0.3, which is supposedly safe.
Had it on the wireless charger for a few days without issue, it never got really hot. Then, after a 10 min drive, the error message NFC chip not functional. Since then, Apple pay is dead. So 17.0.3 does NOT solve the issue.

I’m running 17.2beta and haven’t had any issues. You can sign up to test the beta software.

I had to go to the Apple Store and they ran a bunch of test and did a hard reset a couple of times before Apple Pay came back and started working. I’m not putting my phone in the tray until things are fixed.

17.1.1 is out today, Apple claim they fixed it.

Can’t test it since I have been waiting for Apple to send me a working replacement phone for 4 weeks now. Also, the update did not fix the issue on broken phones as some online “expert” publications claimed today.
