I wonder if it will get the new dual chemistry batteries…that would be an absolute game changer.
Also, I hope they do a little bit to make it look better. I know they can’t fully change the front, but something would be better than nothing.

They’re working with ONE who make the Gemini battery but I don’t see it coming to production models just yet.

Very excited for the battery refresh. I thought I saw an article talking about new batteries with 600 mile range! That'll be available right at the time my current iX lease is up!!
If the M70 can get at least 500 mile range, it will be a no brainer. May even buy this time. Wonder what'st he cost to replace these batteries compared to the current. |

Both my current BMW’s have iconic glow and I love it. I’m excited to see it on the iX

Only battery refresh needed is 800v but I doubt we'll see much of a change other than perhaps a slight bump in total usable capacity but we'll see. We'll know in less than 12 months.

Already have a proof of concept battery that goes 600 miles. Obviously a POC and a production-ready battery are two different things, but it does prove that the technology exists. Without question, 400-500 mile ranges are within grasp. The upcoming LUCID Gravity for example is planned to have 440 miles of range, and that is with the current battery chemistry. |

That said, the biggest improvement is in both the availability of chargers as well as charging speed. I believe availability is essentially sorted now with the Tesla deal, but I’m looking forward to 900v 500kw+ charging in the next few years. Assuming the Nio (ET9) potentially recoups 320 miles of range in 10 minutes, a similar architecture should essentially close the refueling-time gap between ICE and EVs. |

I didn’t say it was. It’s easily achievable though. It would be aimed at standard models though. Performance models would have a different battery tech better suited to performance.

Lots of things are achievable but as my original comment said. U not going to get 600 miles on the LCI…. Not sure what is so controversial about that.

Excited about the increased range and more HP as well as the iconic kidney glow but I’d like to see if they refresh the styling for the LCI altogether.
Thanks for sharing. |

As you referenced, our infrastructure in the USA is inferior and I don’t see huge improvements for at least 3 to 5 years, especially in the less populated areas where EV adoption is slow. Couple that with cold climate impacts and unreliable chargers longer “real” range is needed. Even in the more populated areas public charging is still very much hit or miss.

Hyundai just bumped up their battery size by 9% in their mid-cycle update through gravimetric and volumetric improvements (no change in the overall pack size). I could see a minor capacity bump like that (or more) in a 2025 iX update.

Honestly, I'd rather have 1/2 the battery and 1500 pounds less weight. 300 miles is plenty.

I am hoping there is a LCI i4 M50 with a HP increase to 590 at least. Considering the Model 3P will reportedly be making 600HP, BMW should at least try and keep pace.
