BMW not covering warranty in Rex

I own a 2015 i3 with a Rex. It stopped working in March. Sounded mechanical- loud metal noise. I took it to the local dealership. They had it for 71 days. The last week they requested my service records, I provided a log book and credit card receipts of oil & filter. Was changed yearly. A week later I was told BMW was declining the warranty based on my docs. I am driving the car now. Still running fine on electric. BMW customer relations offers no help. Dealership gave me no paperwork. Any ideas?

Why would they warranty a 9-year-old car? Just curious.....

Sometimes if their is a known issue with a particular power train and it’s an engineering issue and something fails they will good will it. But it’s kind of up to bmw on a case by case basis. Its doesn’t effect every car and it’s up to them.

Happened on my f15, was over warranty and had an engine failure but they realized I changed oil every 5k miles and they replaced the motor over a 20k dollar fix for free. Even though it was out of warranty.

It happens. Rare but it happens.

What was the dealer's diagnosis on the problem? Similarly, what was the specific reason they refused to honor the warranty (improper maintenance?). Since you're in a CARB state (NY), the Rex is covered for 15yr/150K for the parts listed on page 28.

I dont mean to be pedantic, but what kind of receipts did you send them? Was it a credit card statement or an itemized receipt showing the exact brand, type, and quantity of parts?
