HATERS gonna hate!
I don't know why some folks here criticize the aesthetics or functionality of the i-car, it's designed for specific audience and not for everyone. Don't like it just move-on.

It actually looks pretty good--pleasantly surprised.
Would I spend the same money that I spend on my 135 for one? No. But there are definitely people who will. I bet this does well... And if the overall "i" line increases the BMW fleet fuel economy low enough that we can get awesome M2/3/4s....well then more power to them.

Now there are two proper 21st Century cars on the market, the Tesla S and the BMW i3. Finally, modern cars for modern times.
Big risk for BMW, I do believe it will pay off for them. They are a savvy bunch in Bavaria and if there is a team that can make it work it is BMW. Would not bemy 1st car for the family, however as the second car I would seriously consider it. |

Price is inline with other electric and extended range electrics + the requisite BMW tax
I think this is going to kill in hollywood - it'll be the new prius that all the stars will have to have My hope is the carbon fiber reinforced plastics find their way into the M2... |

It doesn't make economic sense unless you live somewhere where gas is hard to find or very expensive, I'd estimate way over $10/gallon.
If you're ecology minded (who isn't) and choose to ignore the fact that most electricity is produced by burning fossil fuels and the fact that the battery is a chemical disaster then go for it.

I'm in love with the idea of the car and all the tech that came with it..
I like the interior.. But I'm not a fan of the general shape of the car.. Is it MPV or hatch? |

Lol at people expecting Nissan leaf prices when it's made of carbon fiber and does not have a crap interior...
Not a car for me, but I can see it will reach its demographic well.

As I thought and as is with most BMW's- wheels make a HUGE difference.
Exterior not great but not fugly. As with most people here I think the interior is fantastic- more Bimmer's should have interiors like this. Looking forward to the i5 which should have a bit more conventional sedan body and still retain the futuristic look. Price at 41k doesn't sound bad- if they can keep it under 50k with Nav then they have a winner. |

I do have some fun with it. But the real problem is stop and go traffic that I experience every day. This is applicable to the i3, as well. It takes a lot of energy to move any car from standstill, to 45mph or whatever. If all you're doing is stop and go, your range, or MPG will always suffer. You can't overcome Newton's laws of motion
