Question on ACC
In the new IX, I assume that the car will default to farthest distance which makes it totally useless. So like many people, I coded my current car to default to the closest distance). Can one make that change sticky and, if not, can one code the change?
Thanks. Steve |

I heard from one of the reviewers that the distance is set to "automatic" by default and adjusts based on speed and maybe other conditions (for example if your wipers are on, I could see the distance augmenting a bit). Not sure if that could be overridden in the settings though.

No, I think automatic means it depends. If you're going 100mph on the autobahn, the distance will be set to farthest (as it should). In the city at 25mph, the distance would be much closer. At least this is my understanding.

My X5 would remember the last set distance. So once I set it to closest distance, it would stay that way. The only default was when the car was new, otherwise, it would start at "last settings". No coding is necessary. I assume iX would be the same in going back to last settings. In iX, you can either set the distance manually, or use "Adjust distance based on conditions" fully automatic adaptive distance control. |

You can set the automatic setting in 3 different distances in iDrive. You can also turn of automatic and set it in one of three different fixed distances.
