i4 M50 passenger lumbar support

BIMMERPOST

Is there no option of adding lumbar support for the passenger on the i4 M50?

I noticed on the Premium Package it mentions specifically the driver. I understand chip shortage, but at the same time not really. It's a pretty basic feature for the price.

Nope, it’s removed from the passenger seat….shows up on the build sheet - option 48Z

Were you successful? I’ve been told it’s not available.

Glad to hear you can add it back up. I'll try to confirm with my CA on the order. I did expect this to be a standard option, not something I'd have to pay close attention to so I don't miss it.

no.

purely a measure because of the chip shortage.

also pray that your spec sheat is what you are going to receive.

Each month, vendors receive a list of options that will be missing for that month's release. it's been 18 months. You take it as is with a discount or you pass.

Good to know Fast400. I'll have to ask dealer to add it back.

Can you image a 4 series with manually adjusted seats? You don't have to, they're on the road. That's the world we live in! I have been assured that's not going to happen on the i4, even though manually adjusted seats are on the manual. There's no way I'd take delivery of one with manually adjusted seats. I'm ok with the steering wheel being manually adjustable but that's where I draw the line. There are certain features a $70,000+ car should have.

From the i4 manual:

I don't have to imagine it, I sat in one at the dealership. Like WTF?

From the i4 manual:
unfortunately this has been the reality for 24 months. There were $120K X5s delivered without the Arman Kardon option, head-up display and other missing options.

The BMW configurator even shows a message about this (it's been 1 week since I noticed the addition of this message)

it is the ordeal of sellers to have to announce this each month according to the official list of missing options of the month that they receive.

Would we really refuse them on delivery. The first few months maybe but it's been going on for 2 years, at a certain point it becomes a new reality.

Just checked my build sheet again. It shows 459 - Power Front Seats. I assume the passenger seat will be power adjusted. Unfortunately, it looks like I have 48Z - Passenger Lumber Delete.

Absolutely refusing delivery for something with manual seat adjustments & no passenger lumbar support at $70k+. I have a bad back, so lack of lumbar support is actually painful and visibly noticeable to me.

That and my wife's 2016 GLC can't be more comfy than a brand new 22/23 EV.. Just sounds kind of silly to me.

your choice, someone else will take it as is. one day you may have it the way you want it.

I agree with you that it's unpleasant but that's how the industry has been working for 2 years. I've even seen $150K Range Rovers without blind spot detection and cruise control. The price has nothing to do with it, in fact the more your car is expensive the more it is affected because there are more options in it.

Just got a production number this morning. Someone else cancelled so they moved me into their spot. They had to re-enter everything and create a new build sheet, and the new build sheet didn't have the passenger lumbar delete.

If you take leather seat you can add passenger lumber support after. If you take sensatec seat it delete passenger lumber support. Previous build sheet was probably with sensatec so if you took leather seat yes you were able to add passenger lumber support. It's been like this for months, nothing new.
