Question How fast did you get your production number (US)?

I placed my order at the dealership on 11/28 and last I checked, they said that it's still sitting in the "order bank" - meaning that I've no production number. Is that normal? How fast did this go for you? I'm now thinking about placing the order in a different dealership to see if it's any different...

I finalized my order around Nov 13 (sent to order bank, status 047), and got my production number on Dec 16 (status 111). Pre-ordered on June 1st.

Thanks, so the delay I'm seeing isn't crazy yet. Also your response made me realize that they must be processing pre-orders first, so I guess I'll have to sit tight.

I thought production starts in March and deliveries start in June here. I have one of the earliest order slots from my local (large) dealership and that's what I've been told. I hope mine magically comes March/April lol. A valet recently accidentally totaled my (late) current car.

Sorry to hear about your car.
You are correct, dealer said production for US starts in March so first US cars should arrive by April if all runs smoothly...
Could this mean June? Not impossible

Oh great! I called my salesperson today after reading what you wrote, and he confirmed that April is a possibility, with May being most likely, but the dealership is generally saying June so no one freaks out if there are delays.

I've received a week 11 build date. Who knows how long it will get it to the dock and to Seattle... Beh.

How did you get your production number? My dealer says he doesn't have it and that I will see it show up in MyGarage when it begins production. Sounds odd. This is the same guy who was claiming originally that the Red paint is no longer available.

Hi all, it would be great if we would have a "my-garage"-tool here in Europe.
It is quite an adventure here in Belgium to get a Vin/production number from my dealer… when i ask for it the only reply I het is that BMW Belgium is not giving this Information. So I have to trust on my sales or dealer to inform my proactively which is not the case…

I ordered in July (m 50) and still have no production slot yet.
Good luck already all of you with deliveries in the us !

Assuming you pre-ordered, BMW has only accepted and scheduled the early delivery pre-orders as of now. Anyone for summery delivery does not yet have a production number and are in status 47.

When you say you placed your order, does that mean you pre-ordered? Because the pre-order closed in early November (I think the 11th). If you did pre-order when the process started back in June, you'd get either an early delivery or a summer delivery.

Early deliveries were given production numbers back in December I think. Summer deliveries are still in status 47.

No I didn't pre-order, I went to the dealership in late November and gave them the specs for the model I want. A week later they showed me a print-out with status 47, and nothing new since.

Ok, you're in the order bank and the reason you haven't heard anything is because there are no dealer allocations currently. Production is being used for pre-orders.

I ordered late December and dealer told me a fall delivery was most likely. Obviously no production number at this point. Will be curious to see how BMW does in getting these built with all of the parts issues.

So local dealership told me that somewhat had cancelled their preorder and I can take their slot. However, the paperwork they gave me also has the code 047. When I spoke with them on the phone, they had estimated that delivery for me would be around August.

As I read on here, it sounds like I’m a late summer delivery and no production numbers have been assigned. So should I really assume that these guys actually do have a a slot (maybe not the first batch of deliveries but something tangible) or are these guys blowing smoke up my butt? I told them I would sign the paperwork by the morning and send over the deposit but I’m wondering if I’m being duped….

Keep in mind I’m a first time BMW buyer and may totally misunderstand the process.

The salesman emailed my production number within an hour of my dropping off the deposit. Tracking initially said “received”. About 4 hours later it changed to “scheduled”.

Am I doing something right, just lucky or completely confused?

This is a LONG running thread so things have changed a lot over time. I ordered mine on Friday after Thanksgiving. It went into production quickly. Bremerhaven arrival (shipping port) to Brunswick, GA (receiving port) took 33 days or so total. Its now in Brunswick VPC. Hopefully I'll have it within 10 days or so (FL)

Seems like production times are ramping up.

Last time I ordered a BMW was back in 2014, I got a production number basically that day on a 3 Series.

With a high demand model with supply chain constraints, I put in my deposit in early September and got a production number in November.
