Are there any sales number reports on the IX? I.know that the wait is long, but it is for any car today.
Bmw must had reported somewhere how much of the cars is expected to be delivered in 1 year (or month or...).
Instead of talking about the design, lets see the sales numbers. As far as I know Porsche underestimated the Taycan sales numbers. I red once that Audi workers from Hungary had been working in Germany manufacturing Taycan. Any news on the IX?

I swear every electric car made by anyone looks horrible....just a really boring design on the exterior. Porsche, BMW, yuck.....

The Model S looks decent but that's literally the only car. Even the Taycan is disappointing...
if you think tesla makes a good looking EV and porsche doesn't i think you need to have your eyes examined.

Sport seats?

I sat in the IX 50 and it was really disappointing. No thigh support extension and very small side supports, this on a car with more than 500 hp. I have been waiting for the specs on the M60, not hoping but expecting some proper sport-seats. From the pictures that was just revealed it seem like it is the same seats as in the IX 50, which basically will refrain me from making a purchase. Anyone know anything on this? Would not a M model from BMW have such options by default?

Meanwhile Mercedes is releasing this, and Merc specific cues aside, I love how they really taking us back into the streamliner era here. Before long we will get back to teardrop coupes, and I can have my modern Talbot Lagot if it keeps going at this pace. Those designs way more appealing and I think EVs will be so into making super streamlined cars that the designs will get absolutely beautiful and natural. BMW will have to follow suite.

Then again, Mercedes also has a history of going from dropdead gorgeous designs to something decidedly crappy looking, like the EQS.

Mercedes is releasing this as a "Technology Concept." The EQXX will likely not be made into a production vehicle, but rather have a lot of the technological advancements and design aspects made from their learnings at F1 that are present in this concept vehicle featured and/or influence future EQ vehicles.

Yeah, I read their brief. My point was the design is Taycan-esque also, and I think this is how sedans and all EVs will eventually evolve - into super sleek cars. I am very optimistic. In the F1 comparison to your point, remember how after certain point F1 cars started to get covered in winglets and coke shape body was in play, etc? I think this is how it will go with EVs as they try to push the damn things through air with minimum drag.

Unavoidably they have to. The behemoths of an M60 and XM are not even close to being long term solutions to individual transportation needs. Those two flamboyant cars are just totally irrelevant in what's really going on. Weight and CxS are always, independant of the propulsion source, very important (just plain physics like always).

It also only has 200hp, which is why the range estimates are so high.

I personally don't find EQXX special - its look is quite generic to me.
I am also not a fan of current Mercedes' soap bar look for all their models. Mercedes is super conservative in their designs.

I doubt it. Car buying choice has never been about ultimate efficiency or ideal transportation. It's always been about personal preference. Cars like M60 and XM are what some consumers want. When the demand is there, they will be made.

I saw an IX in person yesterday. Great interior and exterior wasn't ugly - just not sporty.

I still think that once these EV's become more prevalent the hype is going to fade once the politicians start instituting a mileage based tax on them. They are not going to just let lost gas tax revenue just disappear it's going to be collected one way or another.
I agree with the other post I find most of them hideous, the only one I find attractive is the Audi.
But I'm not really an EV person I may be forced into one but that's the only way I'd buy one.

Hmmm...in order to launch BEV concept, they are excempted from additional taxes and are blessed with an accelerated fiscale amortisation when compared to ICE. This also causes that the electrical efficiency currently (at least in Central Europe) doesn't seem to be a buying decision criterium and only impacts the TCO because of the higher fuel cost/km. In Europe electricity kWh price is about half of the kWh price of carbon fuel. Also the gasoline/diesel distribution was totally exclusive to the one of domestical energy. With electricity, you'll charge your car through an electricity socket in you home! The opportunity to differentiate taxation has evaporated entirely!

In the (near?) future governments need to find an alternative for the flow of billions of € of recurrent taxes that start to dry up into this conversion of ICE to BEV. When they chose the efficiency kWh/km as one of the parameters, which seems to be relevant and available, preferences will change rather fast. At least, I have seen this tax avoidance behaviour before here in Europe. ;-)

On the longer term, there is no escaping that we have to chose the more efficient vehicles. Luckily, the regression between max output and efficiency is much lower than for ICE. A V8 bi-turbo engine has much more efficieny losses during mild regimes than an electrical equivalent.

That's a super ugly car too.

I'm really trying to like these i offerings, but until these move off the CLAR platform, it seems they're just too heavy to compete with the S/X . . . especially the Plaid models.

To me, it looks like they just took down the Model X and beat the electric Macan to market.

The lukewarm reception here is pure BP at its finest. Can't wait for more BMW product launches this year for everyone to go "i don't know…." and then they eventually buy one.

How long do I need to wait until we get 500 miles of range?

All this sub-three hundred mile stuff is lame as hell.

Especially when you'll get nowhere near the claimed EPA range in the real world.

Hard pass.

It's faster and cheaper, with similar range, to a base model X. This isn't even the M model yet to compete with the plaid.

I still don't know what the M60 is. Another trim level or is it a bigger version of the M50?

It's the M sport trim level, like the M440i for a 4 series. There is likely still going to be a full fledged M model.

There is just one m60 right now and an iX xdrive 50.
